I just picked up my first 99, it's a RS in .300 from 37-38(roughly)
It's been D&T'ed has the bluing worn off the reciever from use but is in excellent condition otherwise.

Came with a Parker Hale rear tang that needs a dish.

Has some nice dark wood with a nice pattern to it.

That baby is accurate wink

Welcome to the forum! If it's a 250-3000, then the model is a Savage 1899 250-3000, probably made in 1914. Only 250 made in that serial range. Very nice model to have, though I'm sorry you acquired it as you did.

Welcome to the forum Norm. This list is way out of date, but you've come to the right place for Savage 99's.

the number goes up and down - now it's down - 99R/.308, 99T/.300
and my favorite - 1899F SRC in .303. Like Steve said when he started this forum, I would like to see the .303 Savage brought back - it is a wonderful white tail cartridge.

All said, the Savage 99 is a genius of a rifle. Although no longer produced, it remains highly revered, as it was the foundation from which Arthur Savage built one of America's great gun companies. >> (Jon Y. Wolfe) <<

Well, chiming in with a 1937 in 300 that was my wife's grandma's gun. It wears a curly maple stock that grandpa made that is very attractive. Of course, to the purist, the stock probably ruins the value....but it is a family heirloom so the stock has even more sentimental value!
I've got to get up to speed on these things. They are pretty dang neat!

I have a Savage 1895 .308 Anniversary model nearly N.I.B. Are these guns still wanted by hunters or collectors? I am looking to sell it but have not found interested buyers

Still not a lot of interest in them. Can find ones for sale for $900 and higher that haven't sold in a while.

unless its still new in the box they don't move very quickly and even still need to be priced right.

Hello!
My name is Jeremy and I am a Savage-aholic.

I acquired my first Savage and will take possession soon.
Perhaps someone might have a bit more info about this one.
It is a beautiful rifle and all original from what I can tell.
( I will post pix when I can....)
Glad I found this spot to talk Savage. A little info.........

SN:893XX puts it somewhere between 1908/1909 via Savage99.com
Barrel stamped:Savage Model 1899 .30-30 and Hi-Pressure Steel.
20" barrel,Straight grip, Steel Shotgun Butt plate, ("serrated"/wavy,no logo or other markings) Schnobel Tip.
No checkering or other customizations.Dovetail front and ramped rear sights.NOT D&T'ed. From what I can tell this might be a transition model, hence no other designation as to "model" of rifle(i.e. A,B,C,H,). A gunsmith checked this out for me and said it was a safe shooter with 70-75% receiver & barrel blue intact. Not a "collector" but Used and not abused.
Any feed back appreciated. Oh...BTW thank you!!!!

Welcome to the forum! A 20" barrel would make it either an 1899F saddle ring carbine, or an 1899H with steel buttplate option rather than the standard hard rubber buttplate. The 1899F will have a ring on the left side of the receiver -- or maybe just a couple of holes where the ring used to be.

PS: 1908..
