I see Sig is making their Sig556 in a Sig522 (.22), S&W has theirs, Ruger has one and then there's GSG making the MP5 clone in .22. Anyone have experience with the various one's out there and what do you think.
Also, I'm wondering, since there is no AWB why doesn't H&K offer the MP5 in a semi-auto only version? I almost bought a SP89 (I think that was the model) back in the day but didn't. Is there any reason they wouldn't/couldn't bring out a semi-auto version of the MP5 or a SP89?

I guess it's funny, but they're out there. Anyone have experience with any of them?

Seems to me that the marketeers are at it again. Tactical sells, so they add the term to just about anything to increase sales.

HK really dislikes civilian sales, or at least that is what their actions say.
Of the 'tactical 22's", I really do like my dedicated .22LR upper for my AR.
Fun, cheap to shoot, and improves my .223 shooting.
The 'colt' .22 is pot metal, the GSG is hit or miss regarding quality, and the Ruger is a dressed up 10/22. I dont have any real use or want for these. My 11 yo son disagrees with me regarding the GSG and Ruger.

I have a Tactical Solutions M4 .22 upper on a Rock River lower with collapse able stock and a Pride Fowler .22 scope. Awesome shooter with bulk Winchester Dyanpoints.
The GSG with open sights or red dot sights is a performer, accurate, cycles just about anything bulk (coated bullets). A lot of fun, cycles fast.

I have heard talk about the use of suppressed .22LR's by tactical teams to take out lighting before they enter. Never heard of anyone "fighting" with one, at least not by choice.

Well, I saw GSG offers theirs with a true suppressor now.

Last year I purchased two SPIKES .22 uppers to be used for cheap practice... They have been excellent.
One is an exact duplicate of a Stagg #3 full Flat Top M4 and the other is all tricked out with full Picatinny rail forend and fake can.
Several frinds also have SPIKES, Ceiner and CMMG units. Two friends just bought the S&W M&P22 but they have yet to shoot them...
You can get in a lot of good practice at Five Cents a round vs. 30-60 cents a round for .223.

I sold my AR so I don't have a lower. I'd have to look at a complete gun. Hmmm.

You can get a 10/22, put it in a hogue stock and fit the best match grade bull barrel for less than what a "tactical" 22rf AR clone costs, and the ruger will shoot crazy good.

No doubt. I did this and put a suppressor on it. The squirrels around my house think I'm very tactical. Terry

I put a Tapco collapsible stock on a 10/22 Compact along with a red dot sight. It's just a lot of fun to shoot with the 25 round magazines.

A .22 LR will kill, pinpoint accurate to 100yds.easily silenced, silencers work longer with.22's,Slip it through the cracks in armor versus overcoming the armor, great guerrilla war gun, carry hundreds of rounds and still hit and run, great urban war gun,Very little "signature"Not the Ideal weapon for open conventional warfare ,But quite few good qualifications for many tactical uses.

I hunted jackrabbits over in Manti, UT with a friend's .22 upper on an AR, and he used the .22 version of the MP-5. I was skeptical, but it ended up being a lot of fun. I told him that it reminded me of being "back in the bush". Both worked perfectly, although I can't say we scored a high number of hits on the runniung jacks. I wish I could remember the brand of his AR and upper?
I put a TAPCO stock on a 10/22 for my 11-year old son, and he loves it. He asks for one of the .22 "tacticals" every time we go to a gun shop. It seems like a lot of money for a rifle that won't, functionally, be any different than his 10/22. ???

Nebraska, Perhaps I did not understand the intent of the post,I have engaged in simlilarly canted posts in the past ,these posts were advancing the idea of wether or not there are tactical purposes or even value for a .22 LR in a tactical situation, since you found it advisable to poke humor at me perhaps I did not fully understand the direction of this post,It has happened before when I jump before I look so to speak,Please explain?I don't have or own a Sony Wii and only know it might be electronic[actually I know it is-but that's it.]Please fill me in so I can enjoy the humor[I probably will,I'm not so stodgy that I can't laugh at myself!]

I guess you could call this a tactical .22. Kind of looks like my Remington 700PS. Mike

I've got a S&W M&P 15-22. S&W has a 40% discount for active duty and retired military.
