I searched but could not find a thread I read awhile ago on this subject. I would like a lightweight fluid panning head with quick release plates that can switch between a Swaro spotter and a small video camera. I ran into a cougar stalking my deer this year and the small head I use with my tripod was difficult to use with the video camera. Thanks for the help.

Yep, the 700RC2 is what you want.
Empirical results rule!

I know this is an older thread but just wanted to confirm what I was reading. The 700RC2 head will work with a swarovski spotter? I was told it would not.
Thanks.

You might try a ballhead; for quick release, nothing beats the Arca-Swiss system. I like the Arca Swiss B1 ballhead as well as the Really Right Stuff ballhead.
The QR plates will be the weak link in any Manfrotto product; they rely on spring tension, which will wear with time. If you are committed to a fluid head, check out the Sachtler line.

Yes it will...lots of folks use that combo. However, you might need to get a Manfrotto quick release shoe ($9) that fits onto the spotter bottom.

I have used Manfrotto tripods for years and never had a problem with thier QD plates.. I just happen to have a spotter sitting on a 128RCNat next to me... the release catch on the head also has a small locking "pin" or catch and when thats used, the main release catch simply can't move? To be honest I hardly ever use that feature and I've still never had a problem.. I have another Manfroto with a 484RC2 ball head, It has essentially the same release catch and locking "pin"; again I have had zero problems with it.
