For sale by a friend locally, should be a good shooter. 250/3000 model 99, with 2.7 leupold, sling (of course), 3+ boxes of shells, sn 372*** I'm thinking 1940s? Comments are: "Dad used it for deer hunting", "has a real nice case". Sounds like "dad" took care of it, I'll be looking tomorrow, If it's not butchered any more than scope and sling it should be worth it, ya think?

d&t'd with sling...

If the case is a Savage case and original to the gun.. otherwise I'd look at it hard.

December 1937 or January 1938, by the way.

Thanks Calhoun, I don't remember much about the cases, they are wood I guess, do they have savage logo(s), matching SNs?, anything I should look for there? Also; should this be pistol grip or straight grip with perch belly or not? forearm should be straigt with schnoble or curved? Anything unique to this model? Sorry never have gotten Murrays book.

This one is a 250-3000 if I remember. See how the case is modified to fit the sight for a shorter barrel? A 250-3000 had a 22" barrel, a 300 Savage had a 24" barrel. A 300 Savage case wouldn't fit the slot for the 250-3000 barrel.

Calhoun, I have a takedown model 99 in 300 savage . If I could find an old 99 250 Savage takedown barrel, could I in essence, feed my rifle 250 savage ammo and the gun would function if I used the 250 barrel?
