I am sorta looking for a light go-to rifle in a big game caliber. So I came across the Remington Mountain Rifle and the Ti. Sure, the Ti is about a pound lighter, but golly, it looks to be a fair chunk of change more spendy than the MR. Worth it? Is weight and stock the only difference? What's your take....?

1 pound makes a difference in felt recoil, but it also makes a big difference in carry wieght over the course of a day, week, etc.
If you're going to shoot often with this gun in the long action calibers especially, I'd opt for the mountain rifle and the extra weight.
If it's mainly going to be shot in hunting situations, and I had the cash, I'd buy the Ti.
Seeing as I don't have the cash, and I enjoy shooting alot, I own the Mountain Rifle in 7mm-08.

Welcome to the board! Thanks for the info. How do you like that Mountain Rifle of yours? Handling? Accuracy?
What did you pay for it?

I got mine through a buddy working at Gander Mountain. It's a synthetic stocked Mountain Rifle with the hinged floorplate, I paid $440 for it.
I havent shot it yet, but recently put a fixed 4x Sightron SII scope on it with Leupold rings and bases. It is light! It' feels lighter than the Stainless Synthetic Model 7 .308 I used to have.
I really think that I'm going to like this rifle alot. All my buddies shoot the 7mm-08 and finally talked me into it. For now, I'm going to stick with 140 gr. Remington Cor-locts, but I'm sure I'll get into the handloading thing after a while.

Also, the Mt. Rifle has a hinged floorplate, whereas the Ti has a blind magazine. To some this is a big difference and a deciding factor, one way or the other.

I had the opportunity yesterday to get a M7 SS in Lam. Stock in 7-08, apparently just about New, for 425 plus Shipping & FFL and such.
Sadly, I decided I shouldn't afford it this month.

I can't. Bills bills bills. School, Doctor & baby are all more important.

I can't. Bills bills bills. School, Doctor & baby are all more important I've got sympathy for you on that one, Matthias. I went through about fifteen years of it. Finially, with kids just about grown up, I'm starting to be able to buy some toys. Keep the chin up . Good luck on the gun hunt. I wouldn't worry about a Ti now, a basic gun will work great.
