From time to time I get interested and try to build something different, play with it a bit and then sell it..
My last endevor was a Win Mod 63 auto in 22 L.R. caliber..It had a quarter rib, barrel band swivel, barrel band front sight, a Talley slip on peep and QD Talley 7/8s rings and bases and a Leupold Alaskan 2.5X scope..The stock was Exhibition Russian Walnut, egg cheek piece, cressent butt plate and it loaded in the butt as opposed to the side..Loved it, took pictures and it sold so fast it scarred me and for a pretty penny I might add..
Well my next project is going to be another differnt breed of cat, an english 99 Savage..
My existing 99EG is a very accurate 250-3000. It will have a 20 inch barrel by circumsision, quarter rib with a 100 and 200 yard shallow V iron sight, barrel band front sight, Talley QD rings and bases, 3X Leupold. Exhibition Turkish Walnut, oval cheek piece panals and 26 LPI checkering in panels and grip and forend. A short forend with ebony forend tip..A leather covered recoil pad, and a slow rust blue. It will be the ultimate saddle gun, but will never see a saddle scabbard is my guess.:)
I enjoy building something different from the norm..must be getting winter in Idaho, that's when I get these wild hairs.

Ray I have several custom 99s of various vintages. Only thing I would comment on your plan is that a recoil pad is not needed on a .250-3000, if you use a trap buttplate you can hide all sorts of neat stuff in the stock bolt hole.

That ought to be interesting. I imagine it looking a little like a Gibbs or Farquarson single shot.
I have seen mannlicher 99s and they were pretty nifty saddle guns. Lots of room for engraving if you go that route. Or you could color case the receiver.
Take photos of each step.

Hi Guys, What are you doing with the triggers on these 99's? Mine only has about an 1/8" of creep.

Sounds great... except for that ebony tip on the forearm. Seen several like that, never could take a liking to any of them. Just my opinion though, would love to see pics when finished. You might change my mind, I've seen some of your beautiful stockwork before.

I have built a number of custom 99 Savages but never added the bells and whistles this one will have and Vigi is correct in his post in that I will use a simi cresent Neidner type butt plate with a trap door on it, as opposed to a recoil pad, that would have jumped at me sooner or later but thinks for the heads up.... I just bought that 99F in 308 on the internet, maybe I will use it instead..???????? Exbiologist Probably not a skeleton buttplate as the checkering is so easily damaged on them and I use the heck out of a gun, but they are pretty, but in the end they are more suitable to the closet queens.

Ray, I'm having James Anderson put a semi-crescent butt on the bolt gun he is doing for me at this time. It will have a light pad. Butch
