Does anyone know of a loading manual that has 8-57 loads that are the same pressure as European loads? I just got a Brno 21-h 24 " barrel in 8-57, I know Saami limits are very low for the 8-57, but this is a stong, small ring double square bridge mauser. O, it is marked 8-57 s.
I once worked during my apprenticship for a Journeyman that after ww2, had a sporting goods store for awhile. Of course in those days sporting goods stores sold firearms as well as other stuff. He said his cost for Brno 21-h's was 85 $ can. I believe this was more than what a pre-64 m-70 was then. They have both gone up in value since then. I have never seen a factory rifle the quality of these old brno's.

The Nosler, Sierra and Speer manuals all seem to have loads that are up there near 50,000.
The one that's open on the floor now has the 180 gr Ballistic Tip at 2669 max.
I like the old M70's better. But when asked if I want another rifle the answer is that I want them all.
All guns should be locked up when not in use!

Manuals mostly have what you're looking for, just pay attention to the pressure indications if trying for the last bit of velocity. Same as you would for any other loads.
My M98s in 8x57 work pretty well without max loads. My most accurate loads for the 150gr Sierra are in the 48 to 50gr charges of IMR 4064. Speer #10 lists the max at 51grs.
The 125gr Hornady load shoots great at 50 to 52grs of IMR 4064, which Lyman has maxed at 54grs. That load will print nickels all day with my 20" barreled M98, from a bipod.
Dabbled a bit with the 180gr Btips when they came out, never got around to trying any more of them though. Have become partial to the 125s for deer. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
If three or more people think you're a dimwit, chances are at least one of them is right.
