Anyone use them on anything? During work up how where pressures? Same as the interlock as they claim?

I shot my moose this year using a 150 GMX from a 308 Win at a bit over 2,900 fps (43.5 grains 3031). Shot was from above at about 100 yds. The bullet broke the spine, shoulder and stopped against the off-side hide. The bullet lost one petal.
The bullet didn't expand as much as I'd like to see at that velocity; expansion stopped well before the bottom of the 'expansion cavity'. That makes me wonder how well they'll open at longer ranges when velocities are lower.
Load work-up was a breeze. I used a known load for rifle and other 150's. Pressure may have been a little higher than with shorter C&C bullets, but nothing that presented any issues. Accuracy is excellent, 1/2" - 3/4" @ 100 yds.
I'll be taking the set-up to Kodiak in a couple of weeks. Hopefully I'll collect a little more data.

Well, here's how the 150 GMXs did on Kodiak... On the first buck the shot went through the ribs and lungs, exited and then passed through the neck, breaking the spine in the process. One bullet, four holes. Apparently the buck was looking back at enough of an angle for this to happen. On the second buck the first shot penetrated the lungs but he didn't go down right away so I shot once more. That bullet went from left rear quarter (breaking the femur) and exited the right ribs, probably about 3 feet of penetration. The last buck was a neck shot, nothing too interesting there. Deer don't really make much of a penetration test for a bullet but there were a couple of shots here that showed some pretty good performance for a 150 and a 308.

Thanks for the report. Nice deer! The bullet recoverd from your moose looks very good after going through that much bone. Maybe the petals get swept back more when going through more resistant materials. I think that according to this study http://www.rathcoombe.net/sci-tech/ballistics/mechanics.html#cavitation the flatter front profile on an expanded bullet creates a bigger permanent wound cavity over than a more rounded profile. Like a bigger meplat on a cast bullet kills better. Anyway the most import thing is that you put the bullet where it needed to go. My hunting partner has got one of those Kimbers too and it is a great rifle.

I shot ahuge cow elk 3 weeks ago with my Kimber Montana 308 and the 150 grain GMX. The load includes Re 15, WLR primers in Win cases and chronyed right at about 2880 or so. First shot was quartering away, clipped the front of the right hip, passed through the gut, took out the liver and exited the offside. She went down right away, but her head was up so I put a second into the the hump of the shoulders and into the neck, as she was lying and facing directly away. I found the second against the hide in the neck when skinning/quartering. That bullet looked very similar to Thegman's.
I'm very happy with the combo. So happy that I just grabbed a second Montana in 30-06 to play with. Although the 6.5 lbs of that 308 with the Leupold VX-III 2.5-8 is nice to carry in the elk hills.

If it's tourist season, why can't we shoot them?

I have yet to find any GMX bullets to load, but you guys have me ready to find some and work up loads for next season - might try that 150 GMX in a .308 WIN.

I used the 150gr GMX out of a 30-06 this year on a mule deer. Performance reminded me of the TSX, which I've been pleased with. Load work up was easy, and accuracy was great. I wish I could find more of them, but they seem to be on back order everywhere.

I could not get them to shoot in my custom ti 300wsm, but my buddy got them to shoot LIGHTS out in his Chris Mathews LongShot 300wsm............go figure. I will be trying them in sCaRfAcE(270WSM) and my 25-06 when the 110 grainer arrives.

Thanks for the pics!!! I actually had a load developed for a 150gr GMX out of my '06 but the bullet was so new and getting drawn in AZ is so rare that I didn't want to ... well blow it (sorry Hornady). I ended up using a 130gr TTSX, but since this post, I'll have to try it on my next hunt.
