I desperately need a scope with eye relief that is 4" or maybe just a tad longer at full power. I would prefer one of the Swaro AV 3x9's with a one inch tube, but the eye relief is not even close. Anyone have an idea? It needs to be a 36mm objective to clear some sights.

Any help is appreciated.

The Leupold FX II 6x36 has what you need. It's tough to find a variable that has the eye relief you're looking for at the highest powers but Leupold's 2.5-8 x36 comes close.

If you have a variable in mind, I can think of two more besides the above 6x fixed Leupy mentioned;

2.5-8x32 Zeiss Conquest...4.0" eye relief in all powers.
2-8x32 Nikon Monarch......3.8" to 4.0" from low to high.

The Zeiss will compare closer optically to the Swaro, than will the Monarch.

If you needed a 36mm in order to clear some sites, than the 32mm should be even better.

SharpsShooter,

The 6500 Bushnell claims 4" at all powers. I have checked my 4 1/2-30X and the eyebrow clearance does not change at any setting.

My 6x42 Leupold has the longest eye relief of any scope I own. Haven't measured but seems to be at least 4". My Zeiss conquests seem to have plenty of eye relief for me but they don't have as much as the 6x42 and I don't have them on heavy kickers (.257 Wby and .270).

You might check out a Leupold VX3 2.5-8x36. I have the earlier VXIII version and it has good eye relief at full power.

Nikon appears to have discontinued their 3x9 Omega with the Nikoplex reticle. Natchez has them for $139 and they are supposed to have a constant 5" eye relief. I personally haven't looked thru one and so don't know how good they are, but I'd think it would be hard to go wrong with one.

I recently put a 3 x 9 Omega on a 1885 45-70, it came from Natchez. I believe it is the Nikoplex reticle, anyway I am pleased with it. All the scope I could want for that rifle and it solved the eye relief problem I had with that rifle. Great price.

Doug, I appreciate the private e-mail on the available scopes in the range. My preference would be for one of thos 32mm objective with the RapdidZ. I still might be able to make the 40mm objective work. I hate the fact that a S&B would not be on this rifle but I have to work around the sights and that extra eye relief could make all the difference. Right now it has one of the S&B 1.75x6's but the eye relief is just a take short.

Doug, when can this conquest rapid Z in my hands? Mule deer hunt if immenent.

Let me know thanks, josh

I find the Conquest 4x scope to fit your requirements, and I have one because of the 4" eye relief, and the glass is good too.
I personally think it's a "Best Of Class Buy"; great price that Doug has them going for too. Assemebled in the USA also.
No flies on that scope, at all.

Guys I am in a real bind on the eye relief of this scope set-up. It is just about an inch or two short as is. Anybody got a bright idea? I have got Doug working on the solution. What about a scope with no end bell and extended eye relief like somoe of the Swaros?

I must take delivery before Thanksgiving, a hunt approaches.

Here is a pictrue of the present set-up but the eye relief is just an inch or so short.

Thanks for any help,

ss

Ever actually put a scale on one? They are far short of that and critical as Hell according to my eye and tape...

Sharpshooter...

Would an extension ring be possible on that rifle? That would allow you to use most anything.

If not, one of the 4" Conquests might solve your problem in time for your hunt... Leupolds have great eye relief at low powers, but only average at high power settings. The Conquest is much more constant.

The CENTER will hold.

I suspect a Z6 1.7-10X might fill the bill.....great eye relief;wide FOV.Very user friendly.....I shot one on a 300 Weatherby and it worked great.......might clear those irons,too.

Nope, never actually measured one. I stand corrected and I'll need to reserve comment on the Omegas until I actually measure one.

Swaro Z6 2.5-15x44 and never look back... 90mm eye relief and almost 50' FOV at 2.5x. It is the nuts - I have one and I love it!

90mm divided by 24.4mmin. equals 3.5" of eye relief.

2 1/2-16X42 Bushnell has 4" constant. It does not have 50' FOV but come close with over 40'. And its glass repels water.

DMB, the Nightforce 2.5x10-32 fixed the problem. Dead mule deer and the scope has proved to be extraordinarily dangerous. Nine hogs in the last 11 days. The reticle is great for ranges to 500m.
