Don't own one, but David Petzal over on the Gun Nut had a very good write up on it today. Made me want to have one.

I think this is what he was talking about

Sounds like a perfect gun for me and the CO wilderness!

I'd hate to call that an article, it had a shade more information than a movie poster. But thank you for the link. I am thinking it would make a neat black bear rifle for the hills here too.

True, but its more than we can find now about the elusive 338 ME. That's what I want to hear it from people that have owned and shot them, and maybe hunting with them

...........Go here and read a nice 4 page article by Wayne Van Zwoll.

"rifleshootermag.com"
then click onto,,,,,, "ammunition",,,,, towards the top.
then scroll down and click onto,,,,,,page 3.

Find the article entitled,,,,,,,,,,"All Aboard the 338 Marlin Express."

That`s probably the best informative article going right now that you`ll find on the 338 ME.

What is there to know, you have the balistic data on the cartridge and its close enough to a .338 to know its going to work on about anything..It is in effect a .338 short! smile A 250 gr. bullet at anything over 2000 FPS is pretty deadly. Its will be a dandy thick stuff deer and elk round..

I would buy one in a heartbeat except I just custom stocked a new M-95 Win 30-06 SRC, and loaded up a bunch of 220 gr. Sierras for deer, 220 gr. Noslers for elk, and some left over 220 gr. Woodlighs for anything in between! smile

Y aknow.....that is neat and all but my Husqvarna in 9.3x57 throws 235 gr. bullets at well over that 2000fps velocity there, and it only set me back $400....and that includes the vitage weaver glass on it!

My only beef with all these new cartridges is that Hornady does not always share the powder for reloaders, so using off the shel stuff does not give the same performance.

I know alot of peeps are skeered of 338 ME as it is a new round and what happens if it fails inthe marketplace. Well, I guess I COULD say something about that.....but I mean I DID mention 9.3x57

Cant get over the one bullet thing. No traditional FP .338 bullets to use. Its the gummy tip or a single shot.

That article was decent. I will buy this gun with hopes that it takes off.

The only Husvarna I've ever seen had a 2-stroke motor powering it, not gun powder, lol. Got any pics?

I'm a short-action, bolt-action man, myself. I'd go with the 338 Federal in a Remmington Model Seven.
