Hey, computer savvy guy, your comment about the Tsx's had "Re:RWE" in the header, that means you started typing it either in response to me, or immediately after my post. So why shouldn't I assume you were talking to me?

If you were talking to someone else, than maybe you should use their name.

Was that your last post?

If not, will the next one have the Winchester in it?

Why did I check back in before leaving? Ahh this kills me, but I love a good train wreck!
Oh well, got a 1,000 mile drive ahead of me boys, I might have to sneak in a peak later tonight.

Wow, just wow....

I read 14 pages, and then skipped to the end.

So 50 miles = 80km. (I'm Canadian, so bear with me)

My "hiking" pace is 6.5km/h, depending on the terrain. I hike to cover ground, not look at the sights.

80km/6.5km/h = 12.307...hours = ~ 12:20min.

That's hiking flat out, no breaks, no food, no water stops, no elevation gains or bush busting.

So I suppose that maybe it COULD be done, but I don't think by a troop of boyscouts. I don't know any of those guys that you can push that hard and not have them cry. Hell, even the grown soldiers I know would have a tough time meeting the 80km in 12 hours at a "hiking" pace.

I liked all the "pictures" on this thread though. Those were really funny.

*edit: I guess I should note that these numbers are with a pack, so they might be off a bit*

*Second Edit: I read it wrong. Apparently a guy is to do 80 km in 9 hours. That's 8.88km/h pace. I'm gonna try that pace tonight and see how it works. I'm still not convinced*

Did you look at the links to the lists of people in their teens, 40s, 50s and 60s who HAVE walked 50 miles in 9 to 11 hours?

They did it. Lots of them.

lee24,

your still not paying attention! the question is not whether those others you reference did or didn't - but whether you did or didn't. you accuse others of not reading - kinda like the pot calling the kettle black.......

Not 50 miles, but when I was in the equivilent to High School it was fairly common for groubs of students to do the
Lyke Wake Walk

This was 40 miles across the rough terrain of the North Yorkshire moor and along with the Offa's Dyke and the Pennine Way was one of the favourite "goals" of students either doing the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme or the Scouts/ Venture Scouts.

I should add I didn't do any of this stuff in school nor scouts, but there was plents of kids my age who did, so I don't find 50 miles as completely unbelievable.

The denials began with bluffers saying NO ONE could hike 50 miles.

After proof many did, they said no one could do it in 12 hours.

After proof many had, they said no one could do it in 9 or 10 hours.

After proof many had, they said no teens or old people could.

After proof many had, they are down to claiming the original poster did not do it.

We can be sure that those in continual denial can't do it.

Of course, some of you didn't read any of that.

Was it a hike/walk as you still claim that old people and kids do. A link about those running a course isn't proving anyone walked it in that time.

Or is it an ultramarathon people train for and run as is claimed by the event. Which there are plenty of kids and old people that do this.

Must be tough having short term memory of what you said earlier.

Don't forget this about the farthest you've run and your time only working out to 40 miles in 8.5 if you could keep the pace.

Figured you forgot and all.

Liar Lee posts that he hiked 50 miles in 9 hours for his boy scout merit badge.

Truth is to get the badge you walk a max of 10 miles a day over 5 days.

Liar Lee changes it from a hike to a race showing the JFK race.

Truth is you need to run a 6 mph pace to accomlish the race.

Liar Lee shows how young and old have accomplished the JFK.

Truth is years of training and a God given gift of endurance is needed.

We are left with my original acusation. Liar Lee didn't know what he was talking about when he posted that he as a boy scout hiked 50 miles in 9 hours for his merit badge. Lee continues to pollute the truth with googled information.

For the last year I couldn't care about these debates but there comes a time when you catch Lee in a lie. He will lie about something he heard at the bar and someone will get hurt.

As in reading the 'tells' in body language, there are 'tells' in the written word beyond the words themselves. Your occasional expression of the royal WE and US tells of grandeur thoughts of leadership, control and adoration of the masses.

The quote above is also a tell, forget the words themselves and go with the structure.

You giggled to yourself as you carefully worded each line, imagined the pain each of us felt as we read the truth and felt ashamed. The cresendo was when your silent majority of worshippers at 24 hr would cheer loudly at their computer screens as they read your brillance and victory.......orgasmic feeling.

Liars lie to themselves more than anyone else, they're the only one that believe's what they're saying though.

Don't get so personal with me. This is not about me.

It is about the tens of thousands of ordinary boys, girls, and men and women who HAVE earned the JFK badge for walking 50 miles in 12 hours.

If that upsets you, go cry somewhere else. I was just trying to start a discussion among people who have hiked 50 miles or more. I'll stop posting, if you babies and whiners will, so the other real backpackers can continue the discussion.

Which canyon trail? Rim to rim, Bright Angel? Which one??
