i never thought this would be an problem but i have been wearing the same jeans for 20 plus years and now i got to change manufactors because i am not happy with levis stand on some issues and now i find that that the only levis i can find at a store are those baggy @ss jeans that the kids wear that look like they got a load in their jean. so does any one know of another manufactor that makes button fly shrink to fit.

Nope, had the same problem myself.
I finally went to Carhartt Traditional Fit. They are pre-shrunk, fit me perfectly and have a very heavy zipper (gotta be careful). The Carhartt's come in a a medium blue and a somewhat darker blue (but not too dark). I bought eight pairs with my Cabela's Visa points and am much happier with them than I ever was with Levis. Cost was $28.95+shipping.
Carhartt is made in the USA and they support the shooting sports. Good guys.

Funny you guys would bring this up. But Ive come to the same conclusion about Levi's and will start using Carhartt as well. They seem to be better made anyways. Sportsmens
Warehouse is caring them.
I'll leave the Levi's to the girlie-men who tote pink rifles.

I have gone from Lee to Wrangler to Arizona and finally to Wal-Mart's "Faded Glory" jeans for $10.00 a pair. I can't tell any difference and they are made in the USA. Thanks...

Jeans have become citified. A few years ago I was in a Big R store in Greerley, Colorado shopping for a pair of Levis. I was getting frustrated with the lack of what I wanted. A woman who worked there came over and asked if she could help. I unloaded on her. She and her husband farmed and she knew what I was talking about. She told me Levi had changed marketing strategy. They were targeting the urban market. That meant lighter fabric and the like. It's been a struggle ever since. I lived in Levis 14.75 2% lycra then they stopped making it. L.l. Bean made the same jeans, then they srtopped. I found the latest at Lands End.

I checked the tag on mine before I bought them and it says "Made in USA" but I think the Chinese will put those labels on anything.

I had the same problem you have. Most jeans are made to appeal to the younger crowd, and just come in baggy, baggier, and baggiest, and they're made God knows where. Plus, I have a low waist and short legs. I know it sounds kinda yuppie, but I finally settled on L.L. Bean Classic Fit jeans. They are well made, in the USA, fit me well, and I recall they are about $30. I've been very happy with them. They seem to be true to size in that these days many size 36 pants are a bit tight on me, but Bean's fit just right.
Another thing I like about Beans is that, even though they cater to the yuppie crowd like everyone else these days, they haven't forgotten their roots, and still sell quite a bit of good hunting gear.

501 shink to fit button flies were my mainstay pants for decades. The San Antonio plant shut down and went to Mexico and I stopped buying them, preferring to purchase US made items like top end New Balance and Danners. But, I believe I am predestined by the makers to "get over it" and get used to internationalism in the marketplace.
My Carhart's also are "assembled" in Mexico and I like them. I just miss the button fly. They are durable. The Wranglers are foriegn sourced as well and have belt loops that are too tight for the same belt I used on 501s. But, they are cheaper, their relaxed fit accomodates me fine, and I have a new belt that works.
I've thought of sewing up my own "levis". I just couldn't find any light canvas or suitable material that wasn't made outside the country, except for some polkadot stuff.
Oh, I'll get over it, but, it doesn't mean I like it. Levi, are you listening?

Up in BC a couple of years ago I got some jeans at Mark's Warehouse that have been much better than others available locally. I'm afraid to ask about their political and sourcing policies. I need to go back for the best wool dress socks I've ever found. Cheers from Darkest California, Ross

Nowdays I wear the Walmart "Rustler" jeans. Only $9.00 a pair, fit and wear better than most of the $35 brand name jeans. Made in Honduras, of USA fabric.

I got away from Levis quite a while back, mainly because of their ever increasing price and ever decreasing quality control.I switched to Wranglers. They seem to fit better too. I just picked up a couple pair of their Rugged Wear jeans with Thinsulate, and I'm actually looking forward to some azzbiting cold weather this season.

The Gap is another Gun hating company... I too refuse to wear Levis & have been wearing costco jeans at $12.00 a pair for years, but looks like I may switch the walmart brand at $9.00???wow
