Matthias,

I've shot bigger quail. Just kidding with you. Congrats on your first turkey. Turkey hunting is something that gets in your blood and stays there. I'de rather hunt Gobblers than any other game. I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats again.

I LOVE the smile and look of enthusiasim,,,,,,on YOUR face not the turkeys. My son's first bird was a hen also. He was very young and was really pumped. It was spring and hens were NOT legal. Long story shot. BANG,,,, dead hen. It was all over before I could say don't shoot. I had to make a point of his mistake. I tossed the dead hen in the brush and moved to a different spot. No more calling, really no more hunting. I wanted him to remember this day. About two hours later and before it got too warm, we went back anfd got the bird. That was 15 years ago. Today he has many longbeards under his belt and is now a licensed guide. He learned well and so did I. I am very proud of him. Like texasbatman says, it gets into your blood and almost nothing is more fun than turkey hunting. A BIG BIG congratulations

Hen's are good eating. Took this one while on a whitetail/turkey hunt in KS with my Osage Selfbow.

Great shot with a fine bow!

I love self bows, but the one I am using these days is a two piece takedown flat bow ( composite maple and glass limbs, handle by The one and only Glenn St. Charles.)

The most memorable hunt for turkeys with my son was when he was 8... we had just walked out back to set up..had the decoy out ( this was fall hunt, hens were legal) I hit the slate call once and we had a flock of no less than 20 hens fly down on us....shot a fat one ...was back up to the house 20 minutes late...to this day my son thinks I'm the best turkey caller in the world... little does he know...good job.

Good deal!!! This is the first year we got turkeys. We have been trying for four years and it fell in to place this year.We got two this spring and two more this fall. I have to say the spring hunting is more fun ( calling and all), in the fall it's just a matter of finding them and then ambushing them( it's OK)
