Im looking into the nikon ed50 spotting scope, and was wondering what you guys think about 30x as max on a spotter. How far can you glass a deer at 30x. I hear that this isnt a glasses friendly spotter, is this true? Any input of the scope is welcome, and gladly appreciated. thanks

This scope is recieving fantastic reviews on many of the Birdwatching forums and the 30x is supposed to be *the* eyepiece to make it shine...
If you read the reviews, I'm pretty sure that the x30 eyepiece also has the best eye relief...its still not brilliant, but most rate as ok for specs wearers...
As to x30 inself, in reality it will be plenty good enough in 95% of situations. Plus, I should add that a quality x30 scope will very often resolve more detail than a cheap x45 power which has not so good optics...

I would not trade or sell mine for anything.
Great spotter and it's weight and size make it the best for backpack hunting.

What Pete E says about a good 30X being better than a cheap 45X was proven last year. A fellow had a spoting scope mounted on the window and was trying to see something. Someone told him, "Here. Try these." Offering some nice binocs. The spotter said, "O no. I have a spotting scope." The offerer replied, "I know, and I can see what you are looking for. Try these." The spotter took the spoting scope off the window after he looked through the binocs.
