Ruger never built a 375H&H on the Mark II action ... only the bigger/heavier RSM. In the RSM, I personally believe the rifle is too heavy for a cartridge that does so well in a lighter rifle.

Tend to agree with Con on the RSM in 375H&H as a bit heavy IMO. I have an RSM in 458 Lott which is just right in weight and handles well. Tried the 416 Rigby in the same model and felt it was a bit too muzzle heavy for my taste.

I have not looked at 375 Ruger Hawkeye. Other than weight factor, any advantage over Mark II ?

Huge price difference(ruger african is about $760. Better ballistics that the H&H, 7.5lbs, express sights, and excellent balance. Very efficient cartridge. Only drawback is ammo availability(you can get it for about $47 a box). If you reload, your set. I expect it will become more available daily, as the round has really caught on. Also, it is on a 30-06 length action. I absolutely love mine! They also offer the ruger alaskan which has a 20inch barrel and still exceeds H&H ballistics for a 24inch tube. The recoil is almost identical to the H&H. Good luck.

The price I quoted is from Budsgunshop.com and includes shipping. The trigger is excellent. Mine breaks cleanly at four pounds with absolutely no creep.

Ruger Safari model is about the best bang for the buck I have ever seen in the world of gundome! An intregal quarter rib, and in fact all the bells and whistles of an English Rifle, Holland and Holland etc and all for $1300 or so bucks. You cannot beat that anywhere. The barrel alone would cost you $1600 in the white uninstalled from a barrel maker....

The early Safari models were too heavy, the later ones are just right..however if I could find an older one in .458 Win then I would punch it out to a 458 Lott and appreciate the heavier gun as the LOtt does generate an enormous amount of recoil that I find distasteful to say the least.

Ruger did make them in the older model 77, not the Mark II.

My RSM is a great gun.

Ruger catalogs and their current website designate their .375 H&H Magnum as the M77 Mark II.

It is an attractive rifle to me.

The .375 H&H Ruger RSM is a MkII. Great action, great rifle. The stock could lose a little weight, but hard to quibble with what you get for the money.

Both the Ruger 375 H&H and their 375 Ruger rifles are bargin in their respective fields. if you are comparing performance/vrs $$ the 375 ruger wins hands down.

IMO the Ruger in 375H&H is just too heavy a rifle and if limited to the Ruger product I'd take the Hawkeye in 375 Ruger every time.

It's just a trimmer, handier rifle and I see no need for all the extra weight when you can have the same performance in a lighter package.

The 280 Remington is overbore.

The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.
