You might spend the rest of your life looking for that model in nicer condition.

One way or another this is a nice gun! The price is right. Look at the junk for sale on the internet and their obscene prices. For $1,500 I'd buy this gun in a second.

His new price was $1800 to $2000, I left that out. My offer was less than his old price.

Romac, Hes asking what it is worth imo, it may not go up much more in value for a while. I guess its how much you want it, and if you got a bunch of money hanging around to spend not leaving you short on any necessitys, good deal for $1500 maybe he will come back down. Don

BTW my very nice 1910 303 1899 B has a blue job on the receiver that makes that gun look like a modern hot blue. My buddy's first model 250 (checkered trigger) ditto. All guns made that early, that I have seen and are original have receiver blue jobs that look like a blue mirror.

Here's a pic (scratches and all) of my 1899 303. You can see from the flash reflection how, even after 100 years, the blue is bright and dazzling. Maybe things went to hell by 1919 but I doubt it.

This picture looks all to much like one I bid on, asked questions on. All here told me to run? Same rifle? Small world.

So knowing what you know now about this gun, what would you be willing to pay?

If there is no chance of him budging on the price, I would give the $1800, only if checked out with more detail and it was correct the way it is. For that kind of cash I would still ask for a one week return policy so you could really do a thorough once, or twice over, to confirm originality...

$1500 for a mint HP is a great deal. Unfired or not.

If somebody shot that gun once 75 years ago, does that make it more or less valuable...and who could tell?

It is an 1899 250-3000, not a 22 High Power.
