Ok, over on another forum, there has been a lot of interest in getting a #1 RSI or #1-A done in 303 Britich. A special run for us Canucks that grew up shooting enfields from the surplus store. I've contacted Lipseys and they have the OK from Ruger. Lipseys will keep 50 for the US market and we'll take the other 200. Now, we just need the interest and orders to make the run. In the first 24 hrs, we have 32 orders. Not bad but we need to keep the ball rolling.

Stainless or blued?

I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass. And I'm all out of bubblegum.

I would not hold your breath, Lipsey's has been giving 'LIP SERVICE' on 250-3000 Savage's for 2-3 years now.

Even if only 50 are available in the states, I already called my dealer and told him I want one. smile

AFAIC, that would be about the ultimate plinker and fun hunting gun.

Grasshopper, oh faithful one (i.e. #1's LOL) always looking for unusual chamberings!

Looking to hear about your latest hunting success, keep me posted!

Re: 303, there seems to be an awful lot of history w/303s and Canadian hunters. Bodes well.

.303 = out-of-spec.30-40? I always wondered what would have happened if we'd gone for the Remington-Lee in .30-40, instead of the Krag. Would we still have been using them in 1939?

Kidding aside, I hope that these happen, especially if they are blued 1As or 1Ss.

Lipseys rep told me these would be out in Decemember just a few weeks ago.

Lipseys will sell to the US customers through their US dealers.

S.A.

In case you haven't looked at a calender of late, December is here!

I am also quite aware that the distributors have no control of when the factory will build them. "All good things come round to those who will but wait..." smile

I am well aware that the .250 Sav's are overdue. But when they are available, I'll have one!

GH,
yeah, I know frown
I've got a dozen on order and one will stay in my safe. Ruger is always late, it seems but when the rep says December, it must be getting relatively close, imminent even?

I hope you will consider a 303 for your collection too wink

Let me know if/when I need to put one on hold. The mannlicher 250s (77) are nice but the bbls are a tad shorter than I prefer. An RSI #1 would suit w/20".

Even though the 303 maybe doesn't have the history in the US that it does here in Canada, perhaps there are enough collectors that we can get Lipseys to consider keeping a few more?
I never thought we could actually make this work but, here in Canada, we have 41 orders now in about 36 hours.

Will the #1-A in 250/3000 be blue or stainless?

I agree, the RSI 77 should have a 20 inch barrel as well.

Doc,

The .250/3000 is a continuation of the limited runs of SS/Walnut #1-A Series that Lipsey's has been doing for the last 5-6 years. FYI: The 1st one was .257 Robts; the 2nd one: 7.62x39; the 3rd was: .35 Whelen; and the last one was: 6.5x55.

At least the best was last - That might get me some flack smile

Personally, if I had a choice, I might rather an RSI in 250/3000, in a #1. Sure would be a handy carbine like the 243 I let go before learning they were being disc.

I'm not familiar with these Lipsey special runs , do they come with some kind of unique engraving or anything different then a regular Ruger ?

They came in non production chamberings, Stainless metal in Wood stocks. Nothing more, nothing less. Some as my 6.5 have very good figure in the wood, but most are different so it's gun to gun, although Grasshopper has one that looks like a twin of mine. Maybe the same tree? Lol.

I did see one pic of a Whelen that had amazing wood. They do come at an upcharge on price - the ltd. run guns.

If this had happened a few months ago, I would have ordered one myself instead of getting Leeper to tear down my 45/70 as a donor for my .303 project!
However, I do hope that they do not bring it out in laminate/stainless - that would be just wrong!
