Getting ready to purchase my first M/L for deer hunting here in Indiana. Narrowed it down to the T/C Omega or CVA Kodiak.
Now for the scope. What would be the bestr scope for either of these M/L's?
Thanks
Greg

I'm a Savage shooter/lover but lots of guys in here likes the Omega over the CVA by a fair margin, it seems. Between the two that would be my choice from reading but no personal experience.
I like the Bushnell Elites with the Firefly reticle for a reasonably priced scope for the muzzleloader. Any decent (Bushnell, Burris, Leupold, Sightron, etc) 1.5X6, 2X7 or 3X9 would be great. 4 or 6 powers, too. No need for anything past a 3X9 unless it's a steal and then you have to often sacrifice field of view and eye relief and run the risk of having it turned up to high to make a close shot. I'd stay away from anything past 3X9. The Burris Fullfield II is a nice scope with the ballistic plex hold over reticle, too. If you like this concept but want a bit better glass the Kahles 2X7 or 3X9 with the TDS may be the best ML scope out there. Of course you can't go wrong with any Swarovski, Zeiss or Schmidt & Bender if your budget is strong enough.
Which ever you get I'd strongly recommend you get good quick detachable mounts for cleaning purposes (my opinion) Leupold's are effective and reasonable priced but do cost more than standard mounts so if the budget is tight you might want to factor those in, if you like the concept.
Good luck and good hunting!

I think a VX2 1-4x20 would be nice for a muzzleloader.

Saving my pennies for a Leupold 6x42 for my Omega... If my pennies don't start adding up faster it might wear a VXI though.
I've never had any problem with cleaning the Omega with scope mounted. I put on the lens covers and do my thing. No soaking necessary with the Omega and 777 so far. Detachable might be nice, but not necessary IMO.

Deer hunting in IN, I have never felt I needed more than a 4X. I buy the best one I could and go hunting.

I know im divin into a bucket of worms here. But i just gotta give my 2 cents worth. If you are going to go into a more primative rifle ( not that inlines are primative) why not stick with primative sights as well? call me wierd but i think that muzzleloader seasons were made for primative weapons. caplocks an flintlocks, with open sights........ just my 2 cents worth
