Wonderful work, but I'll dissent here; the figure is a bit "showy" for a classic stock design like those rifles have. That much feathering looks good on a Weatherby, but in a classic stock I much prefer mineral streaking that follows the layout of the wood, or perhaps a bit of feather crotch extending from the toe of the stock forward to just behind the beginning of the pistol grip checkering pattern.

Just my opinion, of course. And those are beautiful rifles and the stock work looks impeccable.

domit,

Your guess is pretty good on the two Millers if you meant $50K each! I haven't checked lately but last I knew, a Miller Classic like these two ran $50 K each. The Marksmen rifle he makes is now $25 K or so.

I agree with the comments on how flashy the wood is on each rifle. Both these stocks are fashioned from Bastogne walnut and are about as good as Bastogne gets. The client picked the blanks. Personally, I'd prefer two good English blanks with lots of black mineral streaking.

Guys,

A couple rifles that Gary Goudy stocked for me. The pre-64 Model 70 features a Danny Pedersen barrel chambered for the 280 Rem. The 30-06 is a Model 70 Classic Featherweight with rust bluing by Todd Johnson.

Tsquare, you've got some draw droppers there. But Rifle, Ingwe and some of the others have some festive stuff too. Makes it hard for the rest of us to compete but I'll throw in my only pretty rifle:

Tom, that Pre64 fwt 280 is without doubt my favourite rifle on this thread. I recall reading about that rifle in a mag about a year back. Does that have Williams bottom metal?

Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

rick,

Thanks a lot. Its one of my favorites as well, and it shoots lights out. I believe the rifle has Blackburn bottom metal though. I'll check later and if that isn't correct, I'll get a note back to you.

Paul: I stuck a Bushnell Elite 6-24X on mine. Given it's applications, that eliminated the need to pack a spotting scope for pronghorn. I did see a nice Zeiss 6-20 the other day though that would look equally as good.

I like Ingwe's pictures of the .303 and Brad's of the Montana landscape best. The .303 makes me want to go find one and start a project.
