Mine shoots a plain jane 700 remington sps youth model in .243. You could pick one up in 7/08 and she'd be set. Being as it is a standard 700 action, you can pick up any kind of stock to replace the factory handle later on.

I have a Model 70 Compact in 7mm-08. The stock is 1/2" shorter than the Model 70 featherweight and the barrel is 2" shorter. I think it's an ideal rifle for ladies or kids. If you searched the various gun auction web sites you could probably find one.

think the model 7 would be a good choice. One thing abuot youth models is that the shorter stock increases recoil- exact opposite of what you want. The short barrel doesn't help either. The ruger barrel is even shorter and I don't think the recoil pad as good.

My opinion? 7mm-08.

Pick out a nice Savage with the accutrigger and you're done. 160 Partitions at 2600-2700 fps and no elk or moose will get away.

We will have to set the avatar to mine cause I post more anyways. More enjoyment that way and she can't get to it.
