I'm looking for one AR-15-type rifle. Preferrably in 6.8 SPC, but maybe better off with a .223.
Please let me know what you think. Budget should not be a factor.
Thank you and I appreciate your opinions. Brooks

Your so dumb! Please, please, let me help you...you've committed a grammatical error: It's not, your fault, you may be the one who is a little dumb. It should not be " Your so dumb! ", it should read: "You're so dumb" or "You are so dumb" Ummmm....Who's the dummy now Tom264?? Let's be at least friendly. Now, please back to the topic at hand, Stag Arms, other?

Funny, I've been here like 3 yrs and have near 10K posts and I never once have been called a troll.......why do you suppose that is? You on the other hand have less than 400 and most of that is recent and you have been called a troll multiple times.....why is that?

Does anyone know brooksrange? Where does he live? Has he ever posted a picture of himself or any of the critters he taken? Why are most of his posts calculated to cause controvery or an argument? What's the definition of a troll? I still think it's best to just ignore his posts and not respond. He's so vain he probably thinks this post is about him. CH

Chickasaw Hunter,
I do have photos of Brooks posted on the Elk Forum: It's on the thread about using the 6.8 SPC for elk. There are at least 3 photos there.

Which one is Brooks? Do you refer to yourself in the third person because it's an alias. I went back and looked at that thread on Elk. Are you the one on the right or left of the bag of jerky?

I saw the picture of some guy riding a horse, who has a trucking business, and of another guy who did an endorsement for a hunting operation in SD, and of yet another guy who shot a moose. They all had the name of Brooks though. I'll bet if they caught you posting they're pictures and claiming to be them they might skin you with a soup spoon, but that's between you and them.

Stag is not bad rates with S&W,Bushmaster,RRA as one of the not quite mil spec AR's
Go with a
Colt BCM LMT Daniel Defense Noveske
The major differences with these rifles will be twist rate, better quality barrels and and bolt carrier groups.

Twist rate between the above ones wont' be enough different to matter, if different at all.
Quality of barrels will be a bit better with some, same or worse with others. IE I'd take a Wilson any day over a Colt tube.
The difference between the first and second group can be ultimate reliability, which for me, will be built by a specific smith, and not pay out the nose for anothers "name" to be stamped on there. Much like I do with custom bolt guns. I won't buy a complete one, I"ll have it built.
Sometimes the difference though is time vs money. ANd if you want to spend the jack get after it.
In the real world assuming you don't get a bad part/parts somehwere the Stag will run as well as any of the others. Any of the mentioned ones can have bad parts though, but the lower dollar lines are a bit more likely too.
Stag does not drop to the level of Model one sales stuff though... but I've been shooting a nephews MOS gun for 2 years now and never a hitch and really good accurate gun.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

Mil spec guns have 1 in 7 twist barrels which will stabilze any bullet weight in .223 or 5.56.
Mil Spec guns have true 5.56 chambers so they can shoot 5.56 or .223
Mil Spec barrels are made of higher quality steel which have been proof tested and MP inspected for flaws. Many of the AR manufactures run cheaper barrel steel and are not proof tested or MP inspected.
Mil Spec guns have heavier full auto weight bolt carriers(increases dwell time for better extraction reliability and reduces wear) and higher quality MP inspected bolts with high quality shoot peened extractors and better quality extractor springs.
Mil spec guns have proper gas port sizing.
Mil spec guns have true M4 feedramp cuts in the uppers.
The author of the tread was asking about M4 carbine type weapons not a varmint/precision rig.
Now if you are building a bench or varmint gun thats another discussion.
