used to cross trails with them in SW, but don't believe they have much of a footprint there anymore.

but what I know of them, good outfit for certain.

they took some hogs out of the Mulchatna herd when the hoggin was good.

I've known Brent for a long time. If you like what you hear and he has what you want, I wouldn't hesitate.

Is there a realistic chance of taking a 9-10ft spring bear with them?

there's a realistic chance of taking a 9 ft. bear with any good outfitter that hunts coastal bears ime.

there's also a realistic chance of the timing of spring hosing you or it being warm too early and not seeing anything you want to take.

I know a couple of guides who work for AAA when they're not doing their own guide thing. I've hunted with them and if AAA conducts their operation the same then I wouldn't hesitate to hunt with AAA (except that $20K is a lot of coin...although that seems to be the going rate).

FWIW, I don't know much about them except that they take some toads every year...

AAA is top notch, I work for him so I am a bit biased. Brent is the most honest hard working guy I have guided for. Great area, nice bears. A 9'+ is a real possibility ESPECIALLY in the spring. Tell him you want to hunt the bear with the 17.5" back pad and 10.25" front pads. We got photos of it this fall, never could get close to him.

Before Sportsman's Warehouse closed here in Littleton, CO, I met a young U.S.Army Captain who recommended a husband/wife hunting guide team that were effective and totally reputable. Unfortunately, a computer virus wiped out my reference to these folks and I can't remember their name/website. I've looked on Alaskan guide lists/catalogs, etc. to no avail. Does anyone have any idea of a different approach to locating them? If memory serves, they had an unusual guide svc. name--kind of Polish/Russian, I think...Any help/leads would be most appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Dog

Thinking you are thinking Frank and Sue Entsminger? In Tok and they are taxidermists, too. And very good ones...

My cousin used to guide for Brent Jones. Maybe still does some. Good outfit.

smokey63,

You may be thinking of Alex Tarnai. He is mostly retired now but still does some guiding. He's based out of Tanana Ak. Looks like sitka deer probably has who you are looking for. I saw your post and didn't realize I was still on the first page. OOOppps.

I hunted with AAA twice in the past when Brent, Roger and Dan were together, once for BB, another for Dall. An honest and hard working bunch. As far as I know, Brent has continued that tradition after buy them out.
