Bump.

I need to know too.

Trying to decide on a youth package and I can't find an NEF combo, but did find the Rossi.

I got the rossi combo (22LR 410) pink, for my little girl yesterday.

I will probably have to run a bunch through it to loosen things up some. The factory metal work feels solid, but rough.

I hope "use" will ease up the trigger and hammer a little. I don't want to take it apart and start polishing, but I will if I have to.

What I mean, in my callous and characteristically blunt fashion, is that if you know of any problems I may be getting into, I'd appreciate the heads up.

If not for my sake, than for hers:

I think they are ok. There is just so much support and interest in the Handi rifle that's the reason I prefer them.

Have all 3 of them. The H&R is by far the better quality, followed by NEF, then the Rossi. The Rossi in .223 with a heavy barrel will out shoot the NEF. The H&R in .243 Ultra Varmitt, puts both of the others to shame. The "safey bar block" on the Rossi is a POS (you would learn to cuss it. In all of them you get what you pay for--but my next one is deffinately going to be another H&R

short answer: "yes"

granted nef guns are "utility" rifles, even their fit and finish puts rossi to shame. You know how when you handle a gun and it just feels cheap? that's what I get when I handle a rossi

my .02 cents!

I have only dealt with 1 rossi, a 30-06. Factory loads would only fie about 1 out 4. I am not sure if the problem was headspace or firing pin issues but I had to handload Hornady 220gr into the rifling to get it to fire. Only about half would fire. I thought it might be a brass issue so tried new win brass and had the same problem. After I had some fire formed brass to work with I tried 2 different primers and got same results. It would barely dimple the primer about half the time. Just a sample of 1 but I wont try another. I have a 243 and a 223 NEF and they shoot great great. The 243 shoots all factory loads into an 1 1/5" or less and handloads into an inch or less. The 223 shoots factory loads into an inch or less, haven't reloaded for it yet but have dies on the way. I just got a 243 heavy barrel from a friend to load for,it shoots factory loads great.I expect it to do well with handloads also. Good luck.
