Back in the 1990s, I was chomping at the bit for these to come out in titanium. By the time they eventually came out, I was onto chomping at the bit for something else, and couldn't spare the money.

You guys just can't do it, can you? smirk

One all-purpose handgun, no conversion kits, bonus slides, or rifles with a handgun hidden in the stock.

In the future, if we are picking one all-purpose vehicle you can't choose a truck towing a boat.

Killjoy.... cry

I was gonna vote "1911" with Bob, until you nixed it. No kits or conversions? No extra slides? Gotta be the S&W 3" model 60as.

Lunatic fringe....we all know you're out there.

That and I grew up on revolvers and am still most comfortable with them. Don't get me wrong, I like a good 1911 and my Glock 19 but down to just one, a single action .357 would be my choice.

Why handicap yourself with a single action?

I'll take a revolver. My Ruger p94 is fun to shoot as is my Browning Buck Mark .22 cal, but if I could only have one it would be my S&W Model 66 Combat .357 mag. At the range I can go through a box of .9mm in no time. The .357 can also shoot the .38 caliber giving me a choice of ammo I can practice with. I guess I just like shooting my revolver more.

I don't like shooting a friends new gun for fear I'll want to buy one!

I carry a S&W K-Frame, .38+P, 5 shot revolver. I hand load hot for it. Strictly a "safe your life weapon", not something you would want to get in a fire fight with where bad guys are over 40 feet away. It is light and easily concealed. Semi-auto's are nice and you know they will fire one round, then...........

FBI stats show average distance in a gunfight is 3-6 feet.

Since I stated 5 revolvers, and if I had to pick one that I had already,it would be the Ruger Security Six in .357, 4" barel. Buying one, opt for the Smith 686 with a 4" or 4 5/8 barrel, .357. Don't know the model number for that one

It would be my Kimber 1911 Custom Target in .45 ACP.
Why ? Because I seldom, if ever, hunt big game. If you were to include that, then it would be my 1006 Smith, 10mm.
I don't know where you guys get this nonsense that autos don't work. After a few thousand rds. w/o failures unless they were my improperly assembled handloads, they work fine.
I've seen lots of revolvers dropped on concrete and used as clubs. Half of those dropped on concrete, when picked up, would not fire. Even some of them when used as a club.
Never saw, or heard of, a big auto, like a 1911, or a Browning HP break unless the guy loading for it double charged the round. And that will break anything. Now I do know of at least three Glocks that came apart when used as clubs, so that is an exception.
For concealed carry, nothing hides as well and offers as much fire power as a big 1911.
The 1006 Smith is a close second. Kinda hard to top a 200 gr., .40 slug at 1200 fps.
For plinking, casual target shooting and small game hunting, the large framed 1911 offer alot. For concealed carry, they are No.1 in my book. E
