A few days ago we were talking about the bikes in ice and snow. Finnally gave it a go.
Had roughly 550 "studs" between the 2 tires.
THe studs worked good on the ice and did fairly well in the ruts. It was still like riding on marbles when I was fighting the ruts. Soon as I got off the road and started boondocking, it got WAY easier. 4th gear tapped out was giving me about 20mph
The studs on the center lugs on the rear tire were ripped out on the little sections of cider road that didnt have snow.
I was still on a skid road in this pic.
Finnally hit a skid road that was rut free. Right after this it got DEEP and soft. It had snow a few inches above the pegs. Was really pushing snow hard and turning was a PITA. I didnt stop to take a pic when it was that deep as I didnt know if I could get going again
The look on snomobeil riders faces when they are stopped taking a break and you pass them on a dirtbike is priceless.
