I want to narrow it down to one powder for these three cartridges. I have been using Varget up until now, and while its great in the .308, its a little slow in the .35 rem and .30-30.
I need a powder thats a little faster burning. Would H4895 be a good choice for all three calibers? Are the granules the same size as Varget?
What about reloader 15? I know it's burning rate is around Varget, but I've heard its denser and compacts better.

3031 is what you are looking for! Take a look in your loading manuals.
I have used it in all three cartridges. It is very accurate in all three and gets near max velocity in the 35 and 30-30 with the heavier bullets.

I've tried to limit my powder choices but still seem to have nearly a dozen on the shelf. While it's nice to have one powder for many cartridges, it'll be a compromise, too fast burning for one case, and too slow for the others.
I'd stick with Varget or RL15 for the .308, and use 3031 or RL7 for the 30-30 and 35 rem.

I purchased some H4895 on the advice of some friends and loaded up some 35 rem and .308 shells. I got good velocity and groups averaged the same as with varget. I think this powder just might be the ticket for me.

The 3031 for the 35 and 30-30, it's not the otimum with the .308, but I have stuff a lot of it in .308 cases with 130-150 gr bullets. I would pick the best powder for the gun you use the most, and then sacrifice a little on the other two . Personnaly I like 4064 in the .308

I think you'll be happy with the H4895. One of the most versitile powders made IMHO. It meters in a powder measure just fine, and I've used it in rifles from .250-3000 up to .458 Win Mag. The "Extreme" temp insensitive feature makes it all the mo' better.

One of the 4895's would be my choice, too, if restricted to only one (yikes, that would be sad), or maybe 3031.

I concur with the advice given...obviously you have "discovered" H4895. It is very versatile. The second choice from my perspective would be IMR 3031. I have had excellent results accuracy wise with both powders. EE.

Look at IMR 3031 or 4064.

IMR 4064 and W748 work well for me.

My powder of choice for those 3 cartridges is 748. 4895 should work well too, but I got hooked on that ball powder about 15 years ago and can't seem to kick the habit. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
