It even kills them when they grow up to be not so dinky. This one from tonight was pushing 250lbs. It was a 100yd quartering-towards shot into the onside shoulder and the bullet wound up under the hide in the back of the lungs. You can see where I cut out the 62gr TSX with my little Kershaw. She ran about 50yds, pouring blood from the snout. It was an easy bloodtrail and there were finger-sized chunks of lung hanging from her mouth. I was fairly impressed with the penetration and performance, as the bullet weighed just over 62gr after expansion. It looked perfect, like one of the four-petaled mushrooms they show in the ads. Muzzle velocity was 3350fps. An ATV and a ratchet strap through the hocks is the way to go with these guys, as my back can't handle loading them up on the rack. It was a decent-sized pig for my area and the 3rd in 4 hunts from that same spot. Maybe I can quit shooting pigs soon and see something with horns. A guy can hope....

Nice pig JPro. You probably killed 7-10 pigs with that 62. She looks like she's about to farrow.

21" on that one, with H335 and moly. I saw 3400fps with no problems, but wanted something safe for hot weather too, so I backed it off a bit.
I started to head-shoot this one but decided to use her as a bullet tester and took the angled shoulder shot. Like Steelhead said, those 62's will dig. I was kind of suprised at the blood, considering there wasn't an exit.

What twist does your barrel have to stabelize the 62gr TSX? I am wondering if my 1:12 will stabilize them or if I should pick up some 53gr.

I shot two hogs this fall about that size with the 62's from my 222 Mag.
Never recovered; two exits. One head shot, one through a rear rib exited opposite shoulder.....blood, lots of it.

Very nice! I'm definitely looking forward to getting some some AI dies and get through the fireforming stage. If the draw god's smile on me I plan on plugging a few muley's with either a TSX or Partition next year. FWIW, 55gr CoreLokts work on dink pronghorn too!

I had to laugh a bit when my old man asked me about the pig and I told him that I'd shot it with my 223AI. "You carried two rifles today?", he asked. "No, just the one". Then there was silence from the other end of the line. He was fairly concerned until I told him that I was running an X.
It really is all about the bullet.....

I have killed 4 hogs, all were with a .22 mag. One shot D.O.A. They don't like the double deuce.

I've heard a man can kill whitetails, and blacktails, with 62gr TSX.

Nice work. JPro, would love to hear the specs on that rifle. Nice looking rig and is about what i'm hoping a 243 i'm having built right now will look like.

Good stuff Steelhead!
Looks like the blacktail took a broadside lung shot. What was the shot on that whitetail? Ever run them on a steep angle shot?

That was the exit on the Sitka, clipped shoulder going in @85 yards. Whitetail was quartering towards and bullet busted all kinds of bone going in and exited. @100 yards This one was quartering towards and took out shoulder going in, but with a 75gr Swift
