My youngest son killed a nice buck Friday morning. This is buck number eight for him and it is his best so far. He is starting to understand the wisdom in not shooting the first deer he sees.

[Linked Image]

He shot the buck from 130 yards with a 100 grain Sierra bullet out of the 25-06 Sendero. The bullet took out the bucks right shoulder and exited between the last two ribs on the left. He ran about 20 yards and hit a mesquite tree dead center hanging his rack up in the tree. I had a heck of a time trying to lift him high enough to untangle his antlers from the tree limbs.

Aside from the hunting there was a lot of cast iron, dutch oven, campfire cooking going on. We dined on blackened mallard breast, venison roast, grilled javalina, venison sausage, biscuits and gravy, pancakes, bacon, fried eggs, grilled sirloin steaks, and blackberry cobbler. grin

I am a man who truly enjoys his blessings.
