Well I finally got around to loading up some 60gr nosler partitions and I think I found a starting load. This is three shots at 100yds montana .223 with leupy 4-12x40 vx-ii ao
Going to load up some more and go back with chrono this week if I get a chance.
Federal brass
60gr nosler partition
winchester primer
24.5grs benchmark
COL= 2.235
measurements below are with oal guage installed on dial calipers measured from base to ogive of bullet.
I measured my chamber OAL with nosler partition and came up with 2.905 to the lands, first load was seated at 2.900 and I hit it on the nose, I went all the way down to 2.885 and they did nothing but open up from 2.895 and down.
This is now shooting as good as my montana in 270wsm with berger 130vld's. Now time to get the .308 montana shooting like this going to go with 155gr bergers in it.And who says montana's won't shoot ;-)

that has to be the best group i've ever seen from the 60 grain partition.

was wondering the same thing my montana only has a 2.815 mag length.

Seems pretty long for a 223. shouldn't it be closer to 2.3-2.4 OAL?

Do the MT's have the spacer plate in the mag box or can you utilize the whole thing?

You can use it all.

the .223 montana has a filler block in the magazine like the remington 700

the problem is, they will not eject a loaded round loaded to 2.45" ish. the bolt stop and ejector will need modified to make this happen.

yea, the only problem i have is trying to reach the lands with the 75 Amax. anything shorter is not a problem.

Toad-Rocky @ YGS has a AI reamer, thinking of dropping my Kimber off as well. Be a good way to break in the new year.
