not a savage collector but i think i got a pretty good deal on this old piece. 99f in 300 savage. am i right in assuming that the f is a 1954 model? it is in original(and what i deem vg to ex) condition with a fixed weaver k4. rough value would be appreciated. i figure around 6-700? thanx for any help savage experts

My condolences on the recoil pad. Swivel studs not original , front & rear irons missing.
$450 or less retail

F came out in 55.
450-500 with the scope and that aweful pad.

If that gun was for sale in a local shop it would go for $600, if it was in .308 it would add another $100 or so. Local markets vary

The south eastern US sucks for 99s. When you find one the seller usually thinks very highly of it!

An attractive rifle. Too bad someone added the pad. I have a stock 99 in 300 Savage and it is a pleasure to shoot, even on the bench. While the rifle's collector interest is compromised, I suggest that you use and enjoy the rifle. Your 99F is an ideal whitetail rifle and the cartridge is more than ample unless you seek a round that can turn a deer inside-out.
