Has anyone used the 'off brand' ammo. How about brands such as Ingman, Sellor and Belot, PMC and Ultramax? Thanks, capt david

I've used both PMC and S&B with good success. Both are cheaper ammo and I use them a lot for plinking. I have never hunted with either.

I shot a lot of PMC 9mm and .223 a few years ago in defensive shooting classes. Always functioned fine and shot reasonably well although I never bench-tested it.
One thing I can tell you, the .223 sure didn't have any flash retardants.

I use PMC in two of my rifles because I don't load for those two calibers and the PMC shoots better than anything else I've tried. My older model Savage 112BVSS in 22-250 likes the plain old 55gr PSP and my Rem 700 ADL in 7mm Rem mag likes the PMC "Silver Line" loaded with 140gr Sierra GameKing bullets.
I've used Ultramax just for plinking. Never really tested it for accuracy though.

The PMC cases seem to hold up better than most when I reload them for my Garand. Not by a large margin, but by a noticable one.

My only experience with PMC was a few years back with .44 Special loads. I experienced about 10% misfires with them, and they were from different lots. Sort of soured me on any further use of that brand. Perhaps just an isolated incident.
I've used Sellior & Bellot a fair amount with good results. Use their 8MM ammo a few years back to take a nice 250 boar. They don't use a premium bullet, but dead is dead.
Used some Ultramax in .223 in a rifle that isn't particularly picky and it didn't much care for them. So-so accuracy but worth it if you can find some at a good price.

We seem to be discussing centerfires here, but after extensive testing in my Ruger 10/22, PMC "Zappers" outshot everything else and seemed pretty "hot" too. This was just before I got my chronograph so I don't know how "hot" they really were, but about the time I discovered them, and bought a "brick" of them, they seemed to disappear from the market.
