I lived on Oahu for a while, in a life long ago. I hunted wild hogs (with a spear, no less), a white mountain goat with horns that looked like spikes (I never asked what kind of goat it was...I was young and dumb), and a deer with white spots and a rack that looks like a elk rack, only smaller (I'm not even sure if it was an axis deer). The problem that I have with the names comes from the fact that Hawaiian's have a lot of names for everything that do not make sense to a hillbilly. I was known as hooly hooly pa pooly houle...the last word is pronounced like howl-ee. It means crazy white chicken man. They called me that because I really was crazy when I was 19 , I am caucasian, and I smoked chicken with mesquite that they really loved to eat.
I can't help you with any recommendations, as it was so long ago, and I was hunting with friends who asked if I would like to hunt with them at the time. They were not outfitters or guides, just Hawaiin country boys who love to hunt.
