Sure they are pricey, but the gun and service reputation is quite respectable from some of the stories I've heard over the years.
Just heard another from Mom. She works with a guy who "blew up" his Renegade [?]. How??? I figure he stacked two charges (forgot to unload last year) perhaps he loaded smokeless??? at any rate, off to T/C he goes with his Renegade with the split barrel.
Result? "We dont have this model anymore, here's a new Omega instead......O.k.? " "Have a nice day."

thats one hell of a deal. we did have one problem with the T/C Seneca that we ordered. first one we ordered directly came with a bent barrel... we sent it back and the put the barrel in a press and bent it the other way. ( the rifling is still crooked) this went on back an forth 5 times before we got one with a good barrel

The stories about T/C's incredible customer service are many and they are all true. They help you out when needed at every turn without asking any questions. You do not need to be an original owner, either. I even had a kit gun I picked up used and they were happy to help.

A couple things come to mind here. One is this. I used to hunt with a fellow that consistently loaded a double charge of 2F black (200 grains) and two maxi-bullets. He did this over and over again. Thought nothing of it. I was amazed at how accurately the two bullets flew. Not something I would consider in a million years. I had another friend that borrowed a Renegade from another person and along with it the friend gave him some powder and bullets. Dale came over to the house for some friendly instruction on charging the gun and shooting it. I watched him pour some powder into a T/C powder measure and the powder looked strange. It was a mix of FFF and RED DOT. Talk about risky business. This was the normal proceedure of the person that owned the gun. The gun to this day is still shooting the mixture, BUT not in my vacinity. I have owned a Hawkin 50 cal since '72. For about the first 5 years I owned it, each fall I had to make a sight adjustment, until I could go no further. I called T/C and they told me to send it to them. I live near enough that I drove it over. They put it on a laser bore sighter and told me the barrel was bent. Their explanation was that in the early days some of the barrels weren't tempered properly. The heated the barrel, put it in a press and to this day the sights haven't been touched. You get the biggest bang for your buck with T/C AND they stand behind their product. Let's keep them in America. Right now I am shooting a Savage 10ML-II. Only because I wanted to do the smokeless thing. Nice rifle, but it won't outshoot my Hawkin.

THAT'S ! standing behind your warrentee !! I agree that T/C has excellent warranty service, probably the best in the business. They also make excellent products. However, I don't understand why they replaced a split Renegade barrel with an entire Omega rifle. T/C does still offer the Renegade Hunter and Hawken models, which are much closer to a "like kind" rifle than an Omega. If it was just the barrel that was damaged, T/C still has original equipment barrels available for the Renegades, as well as all other replacement parts. There has to more to this story than what you related. I'm not at all suggesting your mother is lying, but perhaps the guy who told her about this incident left out, or changed, some pertinent details.
