Guys,
What is the least amout of your bullet that you can have seated into the case neck before its a problem?
I read somewhere that as long as you had 1/2 of the diameter or the diameter of the bullet seated into the case that you are ok. Is this correct?
This is my scenario.
My Weatherby 7mm/08 has freebore. Im going to try some 120 BTs.
The bullet touches the lands at 2.930. Its got plenty of magazine lenght for this but there is not much bullet in the case. I seated the bullet to 2.900 and calculated how much bullet is in the case and I think that its about .200 not counting the boat tail or semi boat tail on the Nosler bullet.
Or about .270 counting the boat tail area.
Is this enough to be safe or what problems might I run into?
Or should I seat the bullets the the SAMMI C.O.L. in the Nosler book of 2.800 and run with it.
The rifle has never been a consistent tack driver by no means but is very capable of hunting accuracy. Ive always just seated to the book C.O.L. of what bullet Im shooting.
Thanks in advance.
Morgan
