Thanks mtnman1! That's exactly what I was needin. I'm guessing 26" on lenght? I definitely want to go heavier than the 4 but that gives me some idea of what I'm looking at. How much do it weigh? I got the stock cheap enough that I may lay it back for something else and go with something that I know can handle a heavier contour.

Working on Savage 99. 6.5 Creedmoor, 23" Shilen #2 with 1:8 twist, either Cerakote or NP3 (not sure, yet), 2-7 Monarch UCC in a Redfield Jr. one piece base and rings, semi-fancy walnut classic stock from Show-Me-Gunstocks.

I have been thinking about a 260AAR. I have that barrel on order as well as a 25cal. I am thinking about a 6.8spc case necked to 25 cal or 264.28inches long,if it won't hunt then its a 25x39.

No more builds for me. I can't stand the suspense. Waiting 7 days for my Sako to arrive nearly killed me. Then the FFL lady went to lunch and missed the first delivery attempt which strung it into 8 days. I was so mad I couldn't see straight.
I'm on sabbatical from new builds.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

I want to build a Husky potato thrower. 9.5X57 off of a Husky 640 in 8X57 which is an FN Action set to that caliber. I probably will get a BC medalist classic carbelite stock. Put a lyman peep on it.
I probably will do it in a couple of months.
Sincerely, Thomas

Had a Douglas XX tube screwed onto a Howa 1500 "Ultralight". # 2 contour chambered in 7-08. 1:9" twist and cut to 22". Just waiting on my McMillan and I have to grab some glass and Talley's. Will probably order a Timney for it as well. Who knew joining an internet forum could cost so much damned money... Travis

James Anderson is finishing the stock on my Pierce receivered 6.5X47L. Jim Kobe is doing the stock on my 9.3X62 Banner Mauser double square bridge. I need to get my Hyper Single in 257 Roberts restocked. John Farner is working on my 1917 Remington Enfield receiver that will become a 416 Rigby. I have a small ring, small thread mauser that will become a 250 Savage. Quite a big year ahead of me. Butch

Looks like some interesting stuff fellas.
I too swore off any builds for the year but got to looking at all the "bargains" I found this year and squirreled away for a project and figured I better do at least one.
I'm sitting on two Rock barrels, 2 Mickey Edges that I picked up so cheap I'm embarassed to admit it, a cool swirly for somethin big.
Unfortunately I'm short on donors for what I want to build. Wantin a a 250ai or 257 weatherby but don't have an action to build off

Getting close to finishing a timberline action, hitech stock, bartlein barreled 6.5 wildcat based on the 376 Steyr case. When it is done, next is another 9.3 X 64 Brenneke on a Mark X. It is the 2nd 9.3X64 I am building - I just love it. Going to try it out on Kodiak this spring.

Am going to turn my 300 RUM Sendero into a 6.5 x 300 RCM. Just have to figure out which Canadian bbl maker to use.
Later........
If guns kill people.....mine must be defective.

We haven't got a ton to pick from, LeRoy. Fortunately we've some 'gooders' though... Less buying/builds for me. More hunting. Only a couple things I want to finish up... -LH CM M70 Classic, Trued/Trigger worked -Williams Orbern BM -Williams extractor -McM Compact Edge -22" SS FW contour barrel, last thing I need, not sure on make or chambering yet. Probably 30-06. -Talley LWs -VX3 2.5-8x32 or VXII 2-7 LRD Trying to find somebody to Cerakote the whole works too..
I've seen more well-shot game lost with TSXs than any other premium bullet.

Having Searcy build me a 450 Nitro double. Also just purchased a SS Ruger in 300 Win Mag that will be turned into a Lefty 416 Ruger. Barrel is already here just waiting for the rifle to arrive before it goes off to the smith. Still waiting on a Cooper Jackson Squirrel rifle that was ordered early in 09.

I started putting together a 375taylor but I might just put it on hold for a while.
Right now I have a really clean VZ24 action, a douglas bbl and the bottom metal.
Due to medical bills, the metal work is just gonna have to wait for now. those damned priorities really suck.

been pondering exactly what....have a Rem. 30 action that could use a "face lift". Thinking 404 Jeff, .375HH, another 9.3x62 but that .300HH has my greatest interest. Got rid of a .300 win mag some yrs. back and have a .30-338 Model 50 sooooooo the .300HH which is nostalgic and very useful overall could very well be it.
Need to locate a mag.box/floorplate and a stock and I should be off an runnin'.

Once Kimber comes out with their 84L Montana, I'm seriously considering re-barreling to 9.3x62 and adding NECG sights.
My youngest boy wants to build a .250 Savage AI on a Kimber Classic, however, he got a Montana in .257 Roberts for Christmas.... so the project is on hold.

Hey Jack, I have a stock that should work I can send off. its originally for a 1917 with a standard bbl channel. Its a little thick in the wrist area so needs to be trimmed but its a decent chunk of wood.
I'm not gonna do anything with it and I'm not worried about money. let me know.

7x57 Mauser on a Montana 1999 short action; Pac Nor lightweight sporter barrel, McMillan compact edge stock. It'll have a Leupold 4x33 in Talley mounts.
