Going to get my daughter a new deer rifle in 223 (she's only 85lbs and she thought a 260 rem kicked to much). So my question is what twist rate would be best for this rifle in .223 The litest bullet Ill shoot out of it is 55 grains and will handload either 62 or 70 grain loads for her to hunt deer with out to 100 yards.
Thanks Pep

1:8 or 1:9, unless of course you still have shag carpet and lime green appliances, then 1:12 or 1:14.

70 grainers? Go 8 twist to be safe.
Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

Check out the Tikka T3 Lite in .223. It has a 1:8 twist.

Pep_Munoz,
.223 Savages come with a 9" twist. I shot 75 A-max and 80 Sieras out to 300 yards with mine.
