First to see where it is hitting, like at 100 meters.
Second to move the windage and elevation to center
Third to check it at a farther range.

The question was about how to sight in at 25 yards.
You have to be able to estimate range within 10 yards at 300 and be able to hold 1 MOA without a bench to do it in 3 shots.

If your parents ever let you buy a real rifle, start with the 25-yard method.

Are you serious? You must really think we were all born yesterday.............

Next time I mount a new scope, I'm calling you to come sight it in with your 3 shots at 100 yards. You must be shooting at a helluva big piece of paper.

BTW: How do you know the group size if you only shoot 3 shots? How do you know if you ain't luckin' the 3rd shot in? Or if you have a load capable of a 6" group. You are friggin amazing.

Post away ole Google Fu Master.

were you a Marine, too, Lee?

that reminds me of one of your more obvious lies....to which you still refuse to respond..your claim to have shot on the AMU team in 1968....and your offhand reference to going to drill on a recent weekend. Are you claiming you are in the reserves or NG now? Are you claiming you were in the service in 1968?

Isnt there a group with the ability to confirm military service for the purpose of federal prosecution? Something similiar to the Valor Act?

Good Lord. This thing is still here? The Thread That Will Not Die?

Everybody take a deep breath. FN announced production of big bore M70's on, I think, 12/31/2009. At least, I was so informed in an email from a gun dealer, which like an idiot I deleted. Odd thing: I can't find the announcement on the Winchester Web site. Could Lee24, with his breathtaking IT background, have hacked in and deleted it? Inquiring minds want to know.

To no one in particular but if Rick had asked me to ignore someone I think I would honor his wishes.

Happy New Year all.

Here it is - from the 2010 Winchester on-line catalog. See: http://www.winchesterguns.com/products/catalog/detail.asp?family=001C&mid=535116

Lee24 was right after all, and he got the first one!

Since Lee24's was the first 375 H&H, maybe the Marlin employee got so flustered that he used the wrong roll stamp?

So I'm wondering... Would the US military sniper rifles have been better off in 7mm-08 than 308???

Well so far the "experts" are 100% wrong on the 03' Give you a hint, it came from the USMA @ West Point in the 1920s and NOTHING on it predates that. LMAO at the "experts"

As for the 7mm08, look up 276 Pedersen. Interesting story.

Lots of DNSers here who confirm Lincoln's famous warning.

See if you can figure this one out....LAFFIN!

You failed to read my post thoroughly before commenting on it.
I say to shoot 3 shots to find the point of impact.
Then I say, once you have the POI where you want it at the hunting range you want it, shoot at least 5 shots at 100 yards for a group, to check the accuracy or you, your rifle, and your ammunition.

Maybe you need someone to sight in your rifle for you.
