anybody else besides me prefer the 9.3x66 moniker to the american marketing ploy of .370 Sako mag?

the newest American Rifleman says that the ER Shaw mkVII is available in it.....does that mean that 9.3 barrels can be ordered from ER Shaw barrels then? their very old (and crappy)website and Shotgun News ads don't list anything in 9.3....anybody know for sure?

problem is that metric monikers have a terrible sales record in this country, the 7mm rem mag is about the only real success story.

Not to be cynical, but I don't see it as a major upgrade over the original. If we were starting with a clean slate, I could see the logic, but not as a replacement for the 9.3x62. From a European view, I understand how a manufacturer might not want to load modern (high) pressure ammo for the 9.3x62 because of the risk posed by very old rifles; a new cartridge eliminates legacy issues.

As a solution to the issues of public liability, it serves a purpose, but I'm not about to run out and buy one. It's a nice design, but the negatives associated with a thin supply chain outweigh any positives, in my view.

+2 for the 9.3x66. They're not fooling anyone, well maybe they are but why dress it up by calling it a 370 Magnum. I wouldn't buy it just because it reads "MAGNUM" Call it what it is a 9.3X66mm. I'm sure they pissed off a bunch of euro's by calling it a 370 mag.

Given Sako doesn't ship 9.3x62's to the states your short on cost effective options.

I am not really sure why they named it what they did but my guess is that it will not do very well but I hope I am wrong. I finished a 9.3X64 early this fall an absolutely love it. Although it is also very unpopular I think it will serve me perfectly up here in AK. So, as with the others, lets call it what it is a 9.3 x 66.
