I am looking at picking up either a .357 or .44 Dan Wesson Revolver. The 44 is the 744 and come with 2 barrels. The 357 is blued and comes with the 6 and 8 3/8 barrels. Anyhting I shold look for on these?

Thanks

Make sure you get the barrel wrench with it, they don't come cheap. It's nice to get the gap gauge as well, but that can be substituted for.

On some the rear sights are really cocked. Check to make sure that's not going to freak you out later.

The gap gauge is just a .006 feeler gauge.

I would get BOTH the .357 and .44 Mag D.W. Revolvers. These are great quality and phenominally accurate revolvers which have garnered a discriminating cult following - and are increasingly becoming only more "scarce".

I have hung on to the 'two' D.W.'s (.357 & .44 Mag.) Revolvers that I have, and I treasure them.

Both my D.W.'s are of the early Monson, Mass. Manufacture Period. "Some" feel that some later models produced in Palmer Mass by the Wesson Family- (following Dan Wesson's death) are somewhat lacking in quality, or because of "finacial hard-times" the Company's Quality Control was suffering, as regards to "some" handguns that were shipped from the Factory.

But, many happy owners of these Palmer Mfg D.W. Revolvers ... rightfully disagree.

The Dan Wessons are becoming legends ... don't get left out.
