Real cowboys are a dyin' breed.
The Mayans had it right. If youre going to predict the future, its best to aim far beyond your life expectancy, lest you wind up red-faced in a bunker overstocked with Spam and ammo.

I'm kinda into knights in shining armor and stuff like that, but you don't see me wearing plate armor and wielding a battle axe. It makes getting groceries interesting.

Not worrying about what other people think about what you wear on your head, would be headed in the right direction.

I only wear something remotely like a cowboy hat during CAS shoots but have put aside most of my baseball style caps because I am getting tired of having the dermatologist carve cancers off my face and squirt liquid nitrogen on my ears. I suppose I could get a nice big sombrero to wear. That sure would turn the heads of my fishing buddies. I do have several straw Stetsons I wear during the summer, but they are not really cowboy style. They are more city-slicker-dude style.

I don't know how many times I heard him say..."I've eaten more horses than that guy ever rode." I used to wear one when changing my kids' diapers.

They keep the sun off my large nose and big ears, and I can usually get a cheap straw one for under $20.
I usually wear them in the summer. Lots of skin cancer in my family.

I have my Dad's old 4X Beaver Stetson. He was given the hat when we moved to Kissimmee in 1956. I don't wear it often, but it sure looks good on me when I do.

Having a little ass - "qualifies" me to wear one. What "qualifies" a guy to wear a baseball cap?

I ain't dead yet but I feel like I am going fast! Funny thing is I have worked a lot of cows but I an not much of a horseman. Guess I made a deal with a mean old horse when I was a kid, said I would not sit on him again if he would get of me and let me back on my feet. That old horse must me dead 45 years or more but for the most part I have kept my end of the deal.

Cowboy hats....not so much...ball caps... I was on the ground one time with a calf and a roping horse blew up behind me, kicked my hat off from behind....its hoof was that close to my punkin' head! Bingo!!!!!
Hell, I still wear one every day. (And the brim's not creased like a taco shell either!). Straw in the summer, felt in the winter. Worn one even back when I was cuttin' calves and patching holes in the fence. And I will be the first to tell you I don't miss those days!!!!! Found a 6x Stetson silverbelly beaver at the damn thriftstore the other day for $14!!!!!!! New huntin' hat!!!! Never cared for ball caps.....

I know some ranchers in S Idaho, N Nevade and E Oregon that are the real deal and some do still wear them, but they are covered in dirt and [bleep]. Around here the clean hats seem to be more of a fashion statement for wannabe wranglers.
I do wear mine on ocassion when riding because it does keep the sun and snow off your neck.
From what I can tell, the real McCoys are distinguishable by the wild rags and sometimes stormy kromers.

Ingwe ive never had a problem holding heels in shoes.....hate holding the head, with my knees and all my legs dont fold up under me without issues..... while in school there were a couple ropers that i refused to grab calves from if i had a choice....they may have been decent calf ropers in the rodeo arena but [bleep] hell were they and their horses flat out dangerous to be around at branding time....a buddy had to hold me back from going to the truck and getting a gun to shoot the one SOB after the third time in 15 minutes he damn near had his horse step on me....
