I traded a 10-22 for it. The eroded wood around the receiver bothers me most. It feeds a little sluggish but it's very accurate with subsonics in the backyard. I think a clean & lube will cure the feeding. It's had a scope mounted on the barrel at some point.

Just a good old 39....what year is it?

1940s I believe. The s/n is tough to read.

And to think, at one time we owned a matching pair, I bought replacement wood from the factory and did a r-blue on the one I had, Sold it for much more than I paid for it. I buffed the metal to 1000 finish and did the in-out thing between ice. Sure was pretty and the right guy came a long that just had to have it, with cash.

New wood or glass bedding could be nice.

Or, you could use as is and enjoy a neat old rifle.

I might have a stock set for that. If you're interested I'll dig them out and take some photos.

After much soaking in CRC & WD-40 and tapping with a hammer handle I was finally able to break it down. There was a ton of crud in there. I cleaned it real good and lubed it with Mil-Spec gun oil. I goes completely back together now and seems to function better.

The bore is perfect and it's very accurate. That's what is so amazing.

Test fired today and function is perfect.

I took it to the range yesterday and I was able to pick of small pieces of clay pigeon on the 25 yard berm really easy. I can't shoot very well without a scope so I felt good. It did hang up one time but I was able to fix it. I want to find a better butt stock for her.

One persons rough, is the next guys character. You might think twice about refurbing a 70 yr old rifle. Great find on a nice old gun whatever you decide. Good luck.

I like it fine except where someone over sanded the stock really bad around the tang.
