Sorry I didnt respond earlier...its solid black..this is my varmint rifle...strictly a utility gun,and it is on its third barrel.
It does not get treated well, so you can guess I am a believer in H-S Precision...

This first one is an H-S Precision Tactical Thumbhole stock I bought back in the mid 1980s and painted myself. The action is a Rem 700 BDL and the barrel is a SS Lilja Remington Varmint contour model 26" in length and chambered in .17 Tactical caliber. The barrel has a 1 in 9" twist and 4 grooves. ![[Linked Image]](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v62/Silverfox_ND/PD%20Hunts/PD%20Hunt%20on%209-4-2009/280-YdPDand17Tac--small.jpg) This next one is an H-S Precision Varminter holding my Rem 700 ADL action converted to BDL and chambered in .17 Remington with a .1945" tight necked chamber. It has a 26" SS super match grade Pac-Nor barrel with a 1 in 9" twist and 3 grooves.
