Eddystones are usually the best buy in a 1917...if you are looking for a shooter...
Ingwe they were made by Remington, Winchester and Eddystone.....for a custom rifle the first two are what yah want.....for a shooter in original configuration(or atleast kept the original barrel) an Eddystone is fine with the other two bringing more money and the Winchesters generally considered the most accurate of the three.....only problem with Eddystones are when you go to remove the original barrel, they were screwed on EXTREMELY tight and quite often the receiver gets cracked trying to unscrew it.....but if yah leave the original barrel on its not an issue

Not exactly a military gun guru...but the guys seem to like Winchesters first and foremost in 1917s, and look for rifles that are as close to original as possible...any deviation, replaced parts, etc...is considered to be not a good thing...There were lots of makers for 1917s, some are more "collectable" than others....but they are all fun guns, if you are looking for a shooter..
Ingwe I am just looking for something fun to shoot. Wouldn't mind a Enfield Jungle carbine either but I would rather have an '06. TTB; I might have a couple things that'd interest you. PM sent; let's talk.

Ingwe, is it true you invented voyeurism? Yes, I watched him do it. Laffin'

Beer was legal at 18 when I was in college so bar time recollections are kinda hazy. Good, but hazy. Don't recall anything about light bulbs but can't rule it out either.
