Just bought the basic rifle as I used to havea Polytech M14 years ago. Wish I hadnt got rid of the Polytech it was doing minute of angle with a cheap scope on it and some cheap aluminum One screw scope mount. Im not a competive shooter but couldnt see where else to post this. Now everything seems to have gone high tech with the scope mounts. Most are 2 screw at least and go into the stripper clip dovetail. Im really looking for a cheap mount like I had that worked. I also liked the old mount as I just removed one screw and the scope went off and I was ready to rock and roll with the iron sights. What about the old springfield one screw mount? Ive seen that for around $80. Brownells says the new 2 screw sprinfields are being returned at a steady pace. Ive also heard that that tapped sprinfield hole in the receiverist compatable for the cheaper mounts. Im really looking for a mount that comes off and on easily as I dont want to leave the mount on and want to use stripper clips when the scope is off. Ant thought will be greatly appreciated. Also the right windage knob seems very tight any way to loosen it?

Youmight try this in the AR forum. There are some M1A shooters there to. I went with an A.R.M.S. mount on mine and Leupold QRW rings.

use stripper clips.... are we having a war soon.. hahaha.

Yes the windage can be snugged, tighten the the screw on the windage knob half a turn, thats one click basically, it'll cam up and over and jump into the next notch. its the scrwe I think on the right as you look from the rear, its around a bolt not actually the bolt head on.

Mount wise there is one from Dripping Springs, if still made, that has hardened pins, and it works just fine with one screw, its a machine shop, maybe google could do it if you hit Dripping Springs TX and scope mount?

Hey Elkhunter that arms mount goes into the stripper dovetail right? If so is that easy to get on and off say if you wanted to use iron sights? Also will it zero back when put back on?
