A friend of mine uses the 120gr NBT and IMR4831. He's gotten really good results from that combo.

I'm gonna be trying some RL19 and 150gr Swift Scirroco II's before spring hits. They are pricey like the Partitions though.

Gotta warm up first. High in the West Coast of Missouri has been 15 for the last two days and forecasted to be that all next week.

RL19 will not give near the FPS that RL22 will in the 7mm. I was a faithful user of RL19 in the 7mm for years because it gave me great accuracy. Just shy of 3100 FPS was the best I could do with it though. I always wrote off people posting that the 7mm can do 3300 FPS with a 140gr because I never came close to that before.
By simply switching to RL22 I can get 200 FPS faster & maintain accuracy. Both my 7mm's will run well over 3300 FPS with a 140gr, but I opted to back down to the 3250 FPS range as that's lots fast enough. I'm sold on RL22 in the 7mm

I shoot all year round from 100 to 400 yards. I do this to keep myself the best shot I can be when hunting season gets here. At $30.00 per 50 rounds would put a hurting on my pocket book.

A shooting friend of mine tells me that Nosler did "stiff'in" there BT's up a bit since the 90's. Maybe I should take another look at them

BF - I'd suggest developing a load for the Partition - which you could do with 2 boxes of bullets, then switch to something real cheap for practice. I personally use whatever I find on sale in big quantities as practice bullets. Rem/Win/Speer seem to be the most common cheap boolets. I'd hate to make my decision based on an extra $20 or so for the extra load development involved with the Partition.

Just a thought

I've killed 25 deer with the 139 Gr Hornady Interloc. Look in a Hormandy Vol II for the load H4831 3400 fps out of a 24" barrel. But if you so inclined I'm sure the Nosler will kill them deader than my bang flops. You'll feel better too stimulating the economy more.

Bangflop: I think the Rem 9 1/2 primers should work well with R22 for you....I use 215's because that is what I have had around for years.

The 280 Remington is overbore.

The 7 Rem Mag is over bore.

[quote=BANGFLOP]I shoot from close range 100 yards or less in one hunting area. But my second hunting area I sit on a power line. The shots there range from 200 - 400 yards.

Late this season I shot a doe at 423 yards. The Rem 180 ultra bond (hand load) struck the deer dead in the rib cage, just behind the front sholder. I had to track that deer 200 yards or so. Complete pass through. Hardly no exspansion.

I had tried several bullets in the 300. Yes they would kill deer but it surprised me how hard it was to get a bullet that would work close and far. They either blew up or penciled threw. 300WBY IMO needs bigger game to shoot at than these small 150lb deer for the bullets to work right.

I am looking for a 7mm bullet to take deer at 200-300 yards with a "splat" Other hunters in the same area all agree one one thing. 7mm Mag. But seems to be split on the bullet. About half use the hornady 139 in various styles and the other half Noslers. [/quote

160 grain Sierra Gameking, 60 gr IMR 4350, CCI 250 primer never seen a whitetail from 100-325 yards make it past 30 yards. Very accurate. Not too fast though(2900FPS). Deadly.

bangflop,
We had good luck with the 120 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip @ 3200 fps this year. IMR 4350 works very well. My deer at 60 yds and the son's at 350 yds.

check this site for some really great loading info:

I have found that R#22 loves the CCI 250 primer, tiny, tiny groups for such a large case.

Went to the gun store and picked up some 120 grain Sierra PH. While I was there someone had droped off about every bullet known to man kind from Hornady in 7mm. They were old but complete box's of 100 each. The gun dealer GAVE them to me!

I had called Sierra and took there advise and loaded the 120PH at 3300 fps with IMR4320 @ 58.0 grains. I clocked them at 3250-3275 out of my 700 BDL. Man they grouped great! avg. .625 @ 100 yards.

Out of curiosity I loaded some of the hornady's. 139 SPT wit 62 gr of IMR4350. I got 2980 out of those ant .887 groups. A friend gave me a fresh pound of R25. I loaded some 154 Hornady RN's with 70 grains of this stuff and got a surprize. 2930fps but .532 Groups! I shot three, three shot groups and the largest was just over .600.

I like the Sierra 120's and the Hornady 154RN. Does anyone have any experance hunting deer with either of these? I would like to pick just one and use for all my deer hunting.

Also, does anyone need any Hornady 175gr SPT's?

My Rem 700 BDL 7mm Rem Mag shot 154 gr Hornady standard interlock SP's crazy accurate over a near max load of H-4831
