I prefer the posts with the pictures of the little black dress. I don't have the technical expertise of Lee and all this jargon first thing in the morning is giving me a headache.

Last year, I bought a Zeiss with tripod for $600.00.
I don't expect surveyors to understand my engineering process which created a job for them, any more than I expect some factory workers to understand the engineering processes which created the projects they are assembling. Welllll hoss, you haven't exactly been sharing the bounty of created jobs with yours truly, so stuff the arrogant hubris. Too often egocentric ass engineers like yourself lose sight of the addition a good surveyor can give to a project, and in true elitist fashion, the minute one questions your work (even in this virtual hell hole), and attempts to save you a little time and scratch (GIS, Lidar, software) you turn as nasty as an ape that fell out of the ugly tree. If you are going to continue to foster dissent here, I would prefer you not post in threads that you start. Just lay the groundwork for us to discuss how ludicrous your claims are, and move along.

I am an engineer myself. A good surveyor can make or break a project.
When designing a roadway or a culvert crossing I often involve my foremen. Why? Because if they don't think it will work, it sure as heck won't.
They often have valuable input on how something can be maintained cheaper, or a different way of looking at the same problem. That way there are engineering teams.

RWE, oilburner and other surveyors can calm down. I was not dismissing you. I am just saying that I am not going to keep trying to explain to you why I would write enhancements to a CAD program for my civil engineering needs. I have been writing CAD programs, FEA programs, and add-ons to CAD programs for all sorts of things for 30 years. Just accept the fact that engineers and architects have reasons for doing things before they hand it over to other engineers and surveyors in the field, who don't need to know the about or why of the high-level design. All they need to know is the objective of the construction, so they can work with the design engineers on problems, field changes, schedule changes, etc.

"Another awestruck hush falls over the crowd...

.....but than from the back of the assembly, the sound of a loud and prolonged fart was heard.
.....obviously the assembly had little respect for the keynote speaker,
the gale of laughter that ensued was clear evidence.
as the hub hub died away, a lone voice cried,
" Hey, I know, let's go to the peeler bar "

Wanna bet field personel need to know why things are a certian way?
Ever hear of running changes? I have field fit lots of things. Even on stuff I have designed.
One of the things I will remember most is when a spring (artesian flow) happend to show up in the middle of a reconstruction project.
