Do any of you guys and gals have any really good accuracy results with 30-06 165 C/Ls @100yds.? You think one could get a .129" group for 5 shots out of a Model 700 S/S firing 1 shell every min.? A guy I know is passing around a group like this, claiming all of the above, rifle is equipped with a 20oz. Jewell, factory "Tupperware" stock,(not bedded as far as I know)mag-Na-ported, 4.5x-14x Leupy. Says he's got 3 groups that measure 3/8ths. From my experience with this guy(shot with him a few times), he's the slowest shooter I've ever seen, 1 shot every 3 min is more like it. I think he's just trying to pull a few legs, been known to do it before, and I'm not falling for it, just checking different forums to see if anyone else has similar results with these bullets. FWIW, I've got a 708 in S/S, that if shot slowly, with 150 MK or Ballistic Tips, put em' in a nice small hole, but one shot every minute from an '06', with 165 C/Ls, Bullfunky! Thanks, Jay

Just because you cannot do it does not make it anything like impossible...

It is possible.........BUT as we all know there is a lot of guys that like to talk about what they can do but can never prove it....Sounds like you better go to the range with this guy and see it done if there is any question

I think you better check that guys target for powder burns.A .129" group is pretty close to what the bench rest guys call a "screamer".

Therein lies the problem, when asking him to have a "shootoff" with my '06', to prove how well his rifle shoots, he said he won't be shooting at the range when I'm there, cause then I'll know how it's all done. Like he's got the secret technique, in the past, we've shot our Coopers side by side @50yds., when finished, he refused to show me his group with his "Ultra Match" ammo, my Wolf "Match Target" group of 20 shots was covered by a nickel, give or take a couple fliers. Same thing at 100yds. weeks before the 50yd shoot, except I got to see his groups, and they were no better than mine.
The guys full of it, you'd know what
I mean, if you ever got to talk to him for a minute.

I've had exceptional accuracy results with CoreLokts in general and the .308" 165 in particular.

That is a sleeper boolit,in my estimation.................

I can't boast of any groups at .129 but my 300 shamu in

original tupperware will shoot 165 corelokts in the 3's

with regularity.

One of the most beautiful mushrooms I've ever seen was from a 165gr corelokt, a .308, and a GA whitetail buck!! An old schoolmate's Dad shot a nice 10-pointer with it..

My Winchester 670 .30-06 loves CL 165 gr. bullets, although the best I can do is only .75" on a three-shot group. Man, I feel like such an inadequate slouch .

What Stick said. If you wanna test a barrel's accuracy, the 165 grain corelokts are a good bullet to try Flinch

As it stands right now, the 130 gr Rem Express (Corelokt) is the most accurate factory round I've tried in my 270.

Jagkoff;
I think you believe your buddy, and want someone on this site to give you the secret...

It's probably the unbedding...dremel out your fancy bedding job, and then don't let anybody see you shoot, or at least hide the targets if they seen you shoot them...

BUT HERE'S THE BIG ONE...SHOOT YOUR TARGET ONCE, AND LAUNCH THE OTHERS.............................

My '06' isn't bedded, do have some Brownell's waiting in the wings, though. I guess it's not totally impossible to shoot a .129, I mean, if you shoot enough rounds, it's bound to happen sooner or later, he said he bought 89 boxes of the same lot#, 2yrs ago., now, he knocked that down to 2 cases(40 boxes), asked him what happened to them 89 you bought 2 yrs. ago? Well, whatever comes in a case. Do you see the lies forming? He's been like this since I've known him, lies compound more lies, it'd be nice if he could remember the original lie, see where I'm going with this, he's a habitual lier, the 129 may have been shot and then it might not have been, noone at work believes it either, Jay

Accraholic, the 180's work well too, but I think the 165's are a bit more accurate. "I did not have sexual relations with that woman." OOps, wrong Kerry, but they are cut from the same cloth Flinch

I shot a group like that with a 30-06 once. I immediately threw it away because I thought it might lead me to think and then say stupid things. I think you can safely ignore this guy. Hope this helps, Okie John.
