I just picked up a Full stocked Sako with an L691 action. I went to " Bolt Action Rifles" to look it up and there are a lot of Sako actions in it but not that one, I did not see it. Is it as good as the L61R, the AV or the A? Thanks for any info

Thanx. That was a help. The seller said it was a 1995 vintage mannlicher. I had a AV in 280 and I could not see much difference.

The main difference is the recoil lug design. The 691 has the lug in the stock with a small dowel projecting from the receiver into it, while the others have the lug as part of the receiver like most bolt actions.

Not a very good design, and obviously why they dropped it.

Does this make it less accurate, is the quality reduced? What are negatives in design?

I shoot a Sako L691 action with a Lilja barrel in 6,5-06. The rifle is very accurate. The seperate recoil lug was a way Sako thought they could save money. I would prefer the Remington style of recoil lug.

You can always install a Remington style recoil lug if you dont like the Sako...
