The biggest thing I learned is Black Mag XP will be available from Alliant Powder under the name "Black Dot". The agreement was signed recently with Mag Kor the Black Mag maker.

Thanks for the report. Kind of hard to believe that no one rolled out a rifle that would "revolutionize the muzzleloader" this year.

Doh. My money was on Hodgdon's. Rumor is their looking to bring to market a "loose" version of their White Hots.

"revolutionize the muzzleloader" How about one that cleans itself and promises to never miss the target?

Man; for a minute there I thought this was going to be about "real" muzzleloaders and not inlines. Sorry. Qtip Soli Deo Gloria!

I like Black Mag XP/Black Dot because I can use it in my side hammer percussion rifle as well as my inline rifle that uses #11 caps.

The muzzle loading rifle (inline) market may have peaked after having substantial growth for the last 10 years. The unit sales figures for the last 2 years shows a substantial drop since the peak of of 2006 which is is likely recession related.
The unit sales for 2008 and 2009 does indicate that ML inline buyers will purchase new rifles and improved technology and features. The manufactures should invest in R$D for a new rifle to roll out once the economic conditions improves to warrent its introduction.
Presently the inline "powder wars" will continue for market share to feed the rifles we already have.
