I picked up an old 336A in 35 Rem. The guy I got it from claimed it was pre 1950 but according to my Blue Book they didn't start chambering the 35 Rem in the 336 until 1950!
Does anyone have a serial number list or the address to one so I can determine the actual date.
The only s/n I can find is under the lever and is G62XX.

------------------
I'm a sucker for those S&W J-frames
www.Savage99.com has some serial nos. for Marlin, Savge, and Winchester lever actions. If you can't find it there you might try the factory. Hope this helps, curmudgeon
Super site.
My rifle was made in 1950. That makes it 2 years older than me. But in better shape.
Thanks curmudgeon
------------------
I'm a sucker for those S&W J-frames
Brophy's book on the history of Marlin firearms confirms the 1950 date. Also, your gun probably has standard rifling rather than micro-groove rifling. Nice gun!
